Don't need to * shout don!

Answer the * question, Who mentioned Flo? who mentioned spending £11m on 1 player!

"Just * wait" you said. We waited last year as well and got no * of note.

I apologise to everyone else for swearing. I'm just letting Don see he isn't the only one who can swear!

Don, there was nothing wrong in my post for you to get high and mighty about, if fans can't have an opinion then there's no point in forums!

It's called sarcasm and it's in response to your claim that we have spent next to 'hee-haw' in the last few years, you see, it's simple business logic, why spend a lot of money on a big name player in a position that doesn't even need strengthening and have him flop, rather than say a youngster who by all means could do as well in for 'free-haw'.

We spent 3 million on Massimo Donati the most capped Under-21 Italian from the mighty AC Milan, I can certainly recall the hubub surrounding him as our next Neil Lennon. The year before we signed Thomas Gravesen, the brilliant player from Madrid.

Comparitively we signed Scott McDonald from Motherwell for 750k, a player that Celtic staff and fans would know fairly well and see that he's suited to playing in the Scottish game and we all know how that turned out, certainly a '* of note'.

I'm not getting high and mighty, I'm taking your opinion on board and giving you my own. And that's the point of this forum, we can share opinions and argue the entire time but at the end of the day we're all Tims and we'll all be celebrating together when we're champions once again.

Actually we prefer to be called the mob.

Don, i'm all for Celtic picking up good players on the cheep. There is some doubt over the Donati price, it is widely thought the price could have been as low as £1.5m. A decent LB and CB is a must to have another crack at CL.

The point I was making is we can afford to splash out a little when the right player comes along. But will we? we'll see.

Only you lot wouldn't be happy to be linked with a young promising player from one of the best teams in the world.

I would love to have him but on an initial loan deal. With a fee set so we can purchase him at any time during the loan. I feel that way we will be able to see if he can adapt and how quickly.

On the other hand if we are getting him to look at for the future then it would have to be a long term perm deal in which case I think we need to get rid of atleast 2 midfielders before signing another especially an unknown quantity

    Donati

Get Donati out and get a million or so.

We need another quality midfielder with pace and vision.

    * me theres some bizarre arguments on here as to why we shouldn't be signing this guy.......
So * if we have loads of midfielders, its not a valid reason why we shouldnt be signing someone.......(anyway I didnt realise there was a limit on how many we are allowed to have)
The reason we are supposedly going for him is the same as the majority of signings...... he's obviously better than what we have.

agree Rosario, Think he would improve our squad. this lad is on the fringes of the Barca first team squad and thats a * of an accomplisment. Who knows how he could develope with a run of competitive games

I't's just that a lot of folk must surely feel that a loan deal for someone whom, in our heart of hearts, will not feature on a regular basis is an average bit of business at best - why should we be content with being a glorified feeder club on this basis?

Also onject to "you lot", dude - that's pretty inaccurate from what i have read from the VAST majority of contributors here. Although you can readily disagree with thoughts - as is your perogative - i disagree with that statement wholly. as we all have a care and concern about the cfc, especially at a time when there is a real chance to rub the Hun right in it.

Anyway, just my thoughts - no argument intended at all.

We need to be realistic about our signing targets Davey.

I have no problem with the club exploring every single avenue available to us if it puts a title winning team on the pitch.

Hopefully the Robbie Keane signing will give some people a reality check, we cannot compete in that type of market.

Fair play to realism - never thought Keane was anything other than Irish, which led to speculation..

Still see as as a CERTAIN title winning team though, esp after the Hun's summer signings- and i use that term loosely - just want us to strengthen the squad where it is required, and i don't see centre mid as a place at all - if anything, it's where the squad is strongest, surely?

We have enough bit-part / no-part players as it is, in my opinion buddy.

That doesnt mean we shouldnt strengthen further if better players become available, surely ?

Don't see him as "better" at all bud - certainly not in comparison to proven SPL players (hartely brown robson). Sadly, mwa to my bed - beloved work the morrow - sad, i know!!

Enjoyed the chat though, shall speak anon with any luck.

Regarding height, WGS has often mentioned wanting more height and I think he has a blind spot about it. I actually think that was a factor in him signing JJ, Donati and Sno but I think he is wrong. A lot of players over 6ft 2 in particular are not good in tight spaces/have a big turning circle - I know I am one and turn like a double decker!! I think in CM you want a guy who is both nippy and strong. CM is one of the parts of the pitch where height is not important. You get the odd exception like Viera but most great CM are not lanky.

oh aye - on the main topic, I wouldnt sign the guy as a loan unless we had the definate option to buy and an agreed price. Whats the point in bringing on a player for another club. Loans like that are real short term thinking and would only loan if we were desperate and looked like Rangers would be stronger than us otherwise. That doesnt look likely.

I honestly dont understand anyone having a problem with a loan player if he helps the team bcoz we got bellamy and sammy started on loan and camara so not as if its a new thing . Would any of the doubters rather have had graveson on loan for instance then he would have been returned or what about if he was more of a houseold name ? at the end of the day I love cfc and if theres players coming in who can help the team be winners then brilliant and if they are laons cool , signings even better but so long as they come I am happy

There has to be a limit on players you can bring in on first team wages. We dont make that much really in a season and to think we prob have about 100k a week if not more wasted on complete * players. Now for the safety of Celtic as a whole we need to get rid of some of these to free up the wages for the new playerws as is the reason not many signings have been made thus far.

I honestly believe WGS was expecting to offload Gravesen, Balde. Riordan and Donati by now. But no team interested will pay the wages for Gravesen and Balde and the fees for Donati and Riordan so we are left paying for them even though atleast 3 out of the 4 will never play for the first team again
