    I've seen him a couple of times on Setanta playing for Lyon, he's worth way more than £2.5 million from what i've seen.

    Yeah the buyback clause will be a minimum barca will agree to pay IF celtic decide top sell him and they want him back . Basically means they get first refusal at him IF we sell him

    The buy back thing probabaly means, if he turns into a world class player Barca will tell him they want him back and he will then ask to leave.


    Hope we sign him though.

    There may not be a fee involved in the buy back. It may just be that if Celtic Wanna cash in on him in the future barca would have the first option.

    But I believe that if there is a fee and we buy him for 2.5mil the fee will be in the region of 5-7.5mil to buy back

    I didn't think that was how it worked. I'm pretty sure it's a minimum fee release clause type of thing, but can only be used by Barca. Basically if they give us him for £2.5m I would expect around £5m buy back price and they would be able to use that clause after 2 years or so.

    NO they can only activate the clause IF celtic wanna sell him / he wants to go OR and they have first choice on whether they wanna sign him or let him slide

    I think each "buy-back" clause is arranged on the situation's own merits. There's no standard policy. I think one of the big clubs paid £1M a few years ago, just to have first refusal on Michael Owen, should he ever leave Liverpool (might have been Milan). A pre-arranged fee could be put in place, but it's unlikely. Celtic would be in a lose-lose situation. If he's a star, Barca get him back for pennies then play him/punt him on for far more. If he's a dud, they can just walk away. It would be too much like having your cake and eating it, if you could dictate how much you'd want to spend down the line.
