Dont really rate CHs on their attacking ability. I know he can do dead balls etc but its really not important compared to being a monster defender when you are a CH. He was pretty well untested in terms of his main role. I do like him but he is a bit of a cult IMO

so if he'd scored a hat trick you still dont think he deserves credit because its not defensive work?

yes, ofcourse, CH's should be judged on their defending. they should also be praised if they influence the team going forward :50:

Seriously? You'd have rated Mulgrew's performance higher if he hadn't left his own half and shut up shop completely: thus allowing our opponents to press more into our half, showcasing Charlie's defensive abilities, and allowing us to emerge with a plucky 0-0 draw?

    Is that you Walter? :50:

That's completely irrelevant to how well he played in the match though. You can't punish him for not having to defend when he played exceptionally well. If you want to say that you can't rate him as our best CH because he hasn't been tested - fine and agreed. But to refuse to acknowledge his contributions because they don't fit into your definition of what a CH should do is... odd.

    Pundits got it correct.....

Mulgrew helped keep a clean sheet, looked composed, stepped forward when needed two, instrumental in two goals scored the third....no brainer. Thought Vic was immense and Brown looked OK in the middle for a change. But Mulgrew all the way.

I like Charlie and he is a bit Caldwellesque is the way he is a big influence on our passing player and that does work at a side like Celtic in the SPL. I still dont like him much as a LB though.
