Luis Palma

Gets criticised as predictable.. but 15 goal contributions in a side which isn't exactly ripping up the league.

 

He's an excellent wee player who will, no doubt, go through some patches of poor form.

Is he as good as Jota? No, but if he was then it'd be heist of the century from us, he's as good a replacement as we could have got imo.

Once the system is more fluid and settled, he'll thrive even more.

 

He gets way too much criticism for me. He's expected to tear it up every week when he has had a poor Taylor and always changing left centre midfielder too work with

I think even Jota would have struggled at times under this team. He wasn't tearing it up every single week when he was here either.

 

Man of the match

Constantly trying to make something happen and could of have 3-4 assists if we were clinical

 

Not digging you out personally mate, but I’m not buying into this habitual ‘He isn’t as good as Jota but’ preamble whenever someone wants to compliment him. That’s actually irrelevant, in real terms, to the excellent contribution he’s making.

Moreover, I actually don’t buy it all: to me he’s quite clearly the equal of Jota; they might be slightly different in style, but they’re a comparable enough type of player that we can drop the cautiousness now and admit that they do similar things to a similar standard. It’s not just the numbers that bear that out. They’re both excellent dribblers, passers and crossers (arguably Palma is better at the latter two).

 

He isn't as good as Jota.. but his first 6 months must be at least on a par with Jota's first 6 months, in terms of goal contributions..?

Good game the day, just needs to be consistent and let’s see if he can be a zombie slayer.

 

I think he has a long way to go before being on the same pedestal as Jota, and that's not intended as an insult, Jota was a special player for us. I'd say whilst they were similar, Jota was a good bit more skillful and quicker than Palma, albeit I don't think jota could pull off some of the passes/crosses Palma does.

Only reason I really mentioned him was a few pages back there were a lot of comparisons of Palma being miles off the level of Jota (especially on KDS, where they seem to hate the boy unfortunately) which I think is a really unfair barometer to compare him to. He's been one of our top 3 players this season imo, only behind O'Riley and Scales.

 

Some of the support get on his back and in fairness when we're not playing well he's the only one who doesn't hide he's always looking for the ball to make something happen

 

I really like him. He's got so much quality..

There's a real overreliance on getting it to him to make something happen though. Very predictable how we do it, side to side then out to him..

No everything comes off but what was that, 2 assists and some lovely balls to Taylor who did overlap quite well today..

My only gripe with Palma is he can be slightly greedy with it..

 

If we didn’t have him we’d be absolutely * this season. Need someone on the other side too though.

 

Not brillant but he can be a nuicance to the opposition,could be a major player in the hun game if he brings his a game.

 

Guy has been in the door for a short time, still reasonably young, from a total different climat then the Scottish and in a team that hasnt been too good. Considering all those facts and you can say he has been good!

 

And he was very unlucky not to have 2 more with CCV and Oh’s chances

 

He definitely gets pass marks. The only signing who does. Holm etc al. might eventually come good but they're not for now.

I think he'd thrive more with a better full back behind him. There's times he's standing out there and he seems so isolated.

 

He's been doing class, with Hatate & Abada back in the team I think we'll see even more from him too.
At the moment teams are focusing on him as he's our only threat
