As much as I would love to see Connell succeed at Celtic I watched him closely playing for Ireland U21's last June and was unimpressed. Good technically but very lightweight physically and not impressed with his speed of play. He is under contract with us for 2 more years so I would think it is best for him and for Celtic if at the end of this loan he is sold so he can start to play regular first team football as I just do not see it happening at Celtic.

It’s crazy to think he was a regular at Bolton before we signed him? Where has it gone wrong do you reckon? Other than than obviously signing for us! Haha

I mean that Bolton team was absolute *. He played 10 league games and they lost 9 of those.
He isn't going to make it with us, he should probably aim to find a transfer to EL 1 or 2.

In most cases, regardless of the coaching situation at a club, the truly talented and determined players find a way through to the first team…

Under lennon you could argue he wasn't getting a fair crack but Ange definitely will play you if you show up well enough. Some people just need to accept that he just may not be good enough for us. I had high Hope's for the lad as well but these type of signings will happen

To be fair now its hard to describe someone who played a total of 10 league games for Boltan as a regular. He got a run at a very young age in their team that was it. He is still only 20 so if he finds a move that fits for him away from Celtic next summer hopefully he can still go on and have a good career. But clearly the move to Celtic has not worked out for him.

I understand maybe not getting a chance with us due to who is above him, but it’s mental to think no team came in for him on loan until Queen’s Park again

Pointless signing, add in o’connor, urgoghide, possibly shaw.

There’s a reason he’s back at Queens Park.

No, still a worthwhile thing for us to look at, we not get a positive hit on everyone of those type we bring over from youths like that, aye many will probably fail but it's a low risk signing that had potential, better to have a 300k investment fail than a 2 million.

Urgohide and Shaw are both regulars around our bench just now and will likely see some game time so don't write them off yet. O'Connor will be a sellable asset on the back of (assuming) 2x successful loans to lower English league of he isn't fit for us.

For every Dembele or Frimpong we will have more failures but it's a sensible risk.

With Connell I suspect now he's unlikely to break into the team, it was a weak administration team he broke into at Bolton bit had obvious promise and there must be something we as fans don't see but he clearly has some talent given what we have seen but either doesn't have enough to make it to the first team or has some other issues with fitting in. Ill hope I'm wrong and we will see him next season but if we don't oh well not the biggest loss

No sure but they should be looking to improve their upper body strength however small some of them are..

We have signed more lumps for the b team..

    Lawal
    Urhoghide
    Shaw
    Dawson

The issue isn’t the players doing weights (or not doing weights) I’d imagine as upper body or overall core strength can be achieved without weights. But that is all down to the back room staff and ensuring players do it. Which as evident when Rodgers came in etc. And now ange saying himself... we don’t have the staff employed in those kind of roles

Is a loan move to Queen's Park really the best offer we had on the table for this boy? Would much rather seeing him compete in the Premiership at least.

Other players have had better moves over the years, there must be some reason.

Aye would like to know. Last we effectively heard of him with regards to first-team matters was his cameo appearance in that friendly with Hibs back in the 2020 pre-season. Since then he's totally disappeared. Concerning that he signed for us over two years ago whilst getting regular game-time in the English Championship, yet is now having to settle for Scottish League One football with Queen's Park.
