There are ways and means! and this is not the way. Imagine all the young kids and old folk trapped in their houses terrified by what is going on.

This wanten lawlessness is disgraceful, and any meaningful protest has been hijacked by thugs and looters just out for their own reasons.

Either that or its chelsea casuals.

No doubt legislation will be passed after this that will impact all future protests because of this.

And further to what you said in an earlier post, there's more stories about police just standing off and doing nothing.

A cynical person might think they were doing just enough to provoke things, and then kicking back and watching the shops burn.

I'm waiting for them to turn round in a week's time and blame the whole thing on cuts in police funding.

An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation is under way into the incident.
And ballistic test results after the police shooting will be published within the next 24 hours.
Initial reports said an officer may have escaped serious injury because his radio got in the way of a bullet.

However, The Guardian newspaper has quoted a source saying initial tests suggest the bullet was police issue.

    .........................................................................

If it turns out they have framed this guy, then the rioting will get alot worse.

Perfectly serious, I'm afraid. I may be wrong of course, and they will make no play for more police funding in the aftermath - we'll find that out soon enough.

But I'm otherwise totally puzzled to explain why a whole group of police officers in riot gear would proceed to beat into a 16-year-old girl in public, in full view of folk recording it with a camera - in the middle of an absolute powderkeg situation. If their intention was not to provoke, then do we assume they are insane?

I'm eqully puzzled by all the stories of police standing by and watching the looting - sometimes for an hour or more - and doing nothing. It could be pure cowardice of course. Male looters are a lot more likely to hit you back than a young girl. But it still seems very odd, don't you think?

London: 3 days of rioting and no plastic bullets fired.

Ardoyne, Belfast: 9 hours of rioting and 50+ fired.

    RUC=PSNI!

Fair play to the people of London for coming out and protesting, I just wish that the filth would stop looting and undermining the deviant civility. Think it has now run it's course and the original protest message has achieved worldwide attention.

de Menezes, Duggan, whats the difference?

Bullring in Birmingham evacuated due to riots. Staff locked in and not allowed to leave. River island smashed up.

It's spreading will soon be the whole of the uk unless the police deal with these little inbred *.

Errmmm....think you may want to start dissecting the policies of the Labour govt who were in power for many years before Cameron came to power. To blame this on the Tories is simply ignorant, no other description for it.

Tottenham comes under Haringey council, which is Labour controlled and has been for 40 years. It enjoys a 1 star rating, with the highest council taxes in London. You don't think either of those factors have anything to do with things?

Haringey Council refunds 40% of all parking tickets issued due to them being illegally issued. Haringey is the 8th most deprived area in the UK, yet the council was closing youth clubs and day care centres because they were too busy wasting money hand over fist on complete nonsense. For example the Council had 14 different bottled water suppliers, spent £5million more than needed on printing, used 60 different consultants and thousands of temp workers. Those are the tip of the iceberg.

Think it might be more prudent to look into how Haringey is actually run rather than simply throw the blame at the door of the Tories. Socialists done the damage in Haringey...they've had 40 years to get something right and are still failing.

I think you have got it back to front. The cuts have meant that the police are understaffed, stressed and at breaking point. They are unable to deal with roving mobs who are appearing and disappearing quickly. With regards to the attack on the 16 year old.. I do not know the circumstances, but I cannot believe that police officers would beat a girl to insight violence.

Police lives are at risk do you actually think they want to be out there?

Violence and unrest certainly does now seem to be spreading. Yes the Tory government are not solely to blame, however they are the ones making dramatic cuts to funding, and people across the nation are feeling the pain from this.

Mate, if you think that ideas like having 14 different bottled water suppliers owe their birth to socialism, you really need to read up a bit more. :56:

In a socialist state, there would be one bottled water supplier: or possibly none. There would be no consultancy firms. The number of temp workers employed would be zero, because there would be no employment agencies, or any other businesses leeching money off between the workers and the taxpayer.

I am far from being an apologist for socialism, but the shortcomings you've described are blatantly capitalist in their nature.

I'm no supporter of the Tories but the cuts should be put into context and I don't want to drag this off topic but Haringey council were guilty of serial abuse of funds year on year on year.

A simple Google search will lead you to numerous articles on the council leader apologizing to the constituents about the abuse of funds and serial wastage. As a direct result of their own failings they have had to cut services to the bone. Had nothing to do with the Tories this time.

A few examples of the serial waste of taxpayers money the Labour run Haringey council were guilty of.

You can try to belittle facts as much as you like but facts are Haringey Council has been socialist for 40 years.....their problems are of socialist making.

I cannot believe that the errors of one council are responsible for the wide ranging violence we are seeing, especially now its spreading out with London. I would say that the general feeling across the nation right now, just as in the 80s are more to blame for what is going on right now.
