So, has anyone else been following what is going on with the TV money and how much trouble this has put pretty much the whole of Ligue 1 under?
Best I can gather, they had a tv deal with Mediapro, seriously * off Canal+ in the process, which then folded mid-season (think like what happened with Setanta here about 12-13 years ago or something), but that the 80% share of games they had the rights to could not be bid for by Canal+, which left it for Amazon to step in and buy the 80% share for about what Canal+ payed for their 20%.
All this being said, with Covid already effecting matchday revenue & season tickets etc, now the loss of all that tv money, roughly -€1.5 BILLION this season alone, which clubs had been factoring into their wage/transfer budgets, I am surprised that there hasn't been more of an exodus of players heading elsewhere, as clubs try to trim thir wages/exposure etc, considering there is even less money coming in now?
Or is this happening, and I've just missed it all? -
