It seems a good offer but something a bit fishy about the scales interest, seems the type of player who likes to get right weighed into it

Apparently his club want to keep him for the 2nd leg of the qualifiers now.

    Getting on my nerves this..

Furuhashi farewell game and almost injured twice before coming off
Juranovic felt something in his leg but still wanted to play his farewell game in Europe
No disrespect but Shamrock Rovers telling us to wait for their player to play another qualifier

Just pay the money and get them in..

Playing devil's advocate, LOI teams get * all money from the league. Winning the premier divison gets the entire team about a third of the (now former) FAI CEO's yearly salary. A single round of a European competition can net an Irish teams the kind of money it would literally take years of domestic success for them to achieve otherwise. I really don't blame Rovers for trying to keep Scales to try and reach the group stages.

Don't get the issue with them wanting a player for important qualifiers. We did same with Forster, Wanyama and Van Dijk transfers to Southampton, playing important Euro matches before allowing them to leave. We only sell before important matches if the player/agent push it. Why would a club with even less financial support from their league and association do otherwise if they don't have to?

The only thing for me is waiting this long for Scales doesn’t scream he is going to be a starter. Given his two positions are probably our two weakest it doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I hope he proves a real talent as if he is the only left sided defender we are bringing in, we need him to be.

    I don’t mind it.

It’s when a player is injured it becomes a problem. Like Juranovic.

I actually thought you did click up and your pun back was the weight to end of the season.

But anyway another left sided centre back will give us a better balance to be fair

Couldn’t want this guy less, tbh. Someone who’s never played any higher than League of Ireland and v early stages of European qualifiers. In terms of potential for development, he isn’t even that young, and could get in the way of others we currently have at the club. On top of that, he’s mainly used to playing in a back 3.

His left-footedness as a CB is about the only positive I can see in us signing him. Even then, that would doubtless be used as an excuse by the board not to buy a LB because ‘Scales can play there’. When has he ever played there regularly?

All of last season and so far all of this have been left back/left mid (lwb type play, transfermarkt struggles to recognise Wing backs as a position) its not one that overly excites me but from what I have seen of him he has been decent, I think he will improve the squad but not be a first choice instant in signing.

He's a punt. Wouldn't suprise me if we brought in a CB on loan and with Taylor and Montgomery and boli it seems we aren't actively looking for an out and out lb that can or will make an immediate impression
