He is 10 times the defender of anything we have would be a massive upgrade .

There is no guarantee of anything in life, let alone winning the league, signing a few quality players dozen't guarantee you the selfsame players are going to gel into the team. Winning leagues generally comes down to having a solid welded unit, with strength in depth, who know each other's game inside out, and who are committed to the cause, and will run through brick walls for the manager, and can produce that extra something when the chips are down. Sounds familiar ?

Jock Stein's teams would run through brick walls for the club, some of them weren't necessarily gifted, but his players had a winning mentality, and were prepared to go in where it hurts to win 9IAR.

I think you're contradicting yourself there a bit.Them 2 players would give us that strength in depth.I know nothing is guaranteed in life,we could sell our best players and still win the league, anythings possible right? But by bringing them 2 players in,the odds of winning the league would go up exponentially.

It wasn't MON who actually spent the money though was it? He asked for players and the board sanctioned it. The same board who have now got the debt down to 500k and could work at things to give Lenny the funds without bringing us down. I don't see it being that hard to do. It's not like some of the players we have been linked with cost a combined 18 mil like Sutton, Hartson et al.

That's just half the story. The boards fault too. Why blame mon? If we had of won the league past 3 seasons and got champions league money, there would be no debt.

If they board hadn't of * up bringing in mogga we'd be better off,if the board had of spent money that january we got willo flood we'd have sent a digger through the huns hearts.

All problems created by the board after martin left.

If it's only Everton that are interested we have a good chance coz they are more skint than us.

he is only 20k a week we could easily match that maybe g 25/26k a week at most.

Would be worth it can fill in at left back till Izzy back once Izzy back can put him at centre back with Wilson and use Mulgrew Wide left.

We've criminally underspent in defence. The back line on Sunday had 3 free transfers and the 4th player is an unknown kid who cost less than £1m. I know money doesn't always guarantee quality but we're ripping the * with that. Get the £3m out for Ridgewell.

Good call mate, it is the boards fault that we no longer have 57,000 (4,500 termed as special season tickets) season ticket holders and gates of 60,000 regularily at Celtic Park. It was their transfer policy three years ago during the January transfer window which sickened nearly 10,000 supporters that no longer have season tickets, they're answer was to pay £50K for Willo Flood and Rangers have gone on to win three SPL titles in a row.

However it's also well worth remembering that when the debt was nearer £22 Million it was due to the re-building of Celtic Park during the Fergus Mc Cann era, Fergus walked away with plenty and left a debt balance of £22 Million for the new board to manage.

All we hear is Celtic can't compete against EPL clubs or the majority of those in Europe, but we still get £13.5 Million in season ticket sales plus money from various sponorship deals, how many middle sized clubs in England or Europe have this sort of finanical clout.

What's missing is serious investment from our board, if they gave £10 Million annually to the manager (Desmond makes more than this in interest on his Billion Pounds) we might just have a chance of competing in Europe and winning the SPL title again.

That January transfer window money was available...Strachan said it...the players he wanted weren't available so he decided not to spend. Strachan decided to go with what he had.

He buckled against a very poor Rangers team

Dermot Desmond is a businessman. He is not an Abramovich who is going to plough millions in. Spending £10m on players is ridiculous given our income streams.

Fans are detached from reality at times.

Every EPL club brings in more money in tv revenue than Celtic does.

we're not talking about £10M .. all we seem to get these days is players that cost either nothing or £2M TOPS ... we would just like to see the boat pushed a little bit further, adding a few extra million on. To me it always seems as if we embaress clubs with our offers .. but i guess thats just what celtic rate the player at *cough mcgeady cough*

put it this way .. whats the most we have spent on a player within the past 3-4 years. from what i rememer its a toss up between Ki and Hooper and they cost around £2M .. we would just like to see an offer of £3-£4M for that prolific striker, or the bad * CB we've been crying out for, or the giant gymnast goalkeeper .. we lose out on players far too much just because we wont bid another few extra hundred thousand

We canno afford fees above that. Our income streams clearly show that. We have a big squad and it would take quite a few to leave to make significant funds available.

Players with fees like that also dictate multi million pubs wages over the term.
