lenny could have made the instruction from the sideline if necessary yes. sammy has had one good game the whole season....scored two goals the whole season......and we hand him the chance to secure the league championship from the spot in a game were he hasnt so much as managed a shot on target and has played poorly? Or do you insist Commons the clubs spot kicker takes it?

it hardly requires the wisdom of solomon to figure it out.

lenny's incompetence during this season cannot be repeated next season. we cant afford the luxury. there's no room for sentiment.

butcher would jump at the chance to manage celtic if he was asked. no doubt about it. if not him then someone of butchers managerial skill and experience is required to stop the huns from getting four in a row.

i'll remember the fact that during the years the huns were going bust the incompetence of dermond and lawell made our great club into a laughing stock

Does it matter when I posted it? What I said was still true. You were presented with solid facts, yet it was very predictable that you were going to come back and dismiss them in some way or another. That was the reason behind my post.

Now your implying that you're the guy that was "down in the fight", which is basically admitting that you had no valid response to what was sitting in front of you and are therefore spouting a whole lot of * in order to make it look like you still have a fighting chance in this debate.

And who are you to judge my character on an internet forum? As I said, it's best you stop now before digging an even deeper hole for yourself.

Butcher could walk in and do a job immediately. the huns would be sick into the bargain. that would do for me.
anyway butcher's not a hun....a mercenary recruited by huns, yes, but not a hun.

This is not directed at you Padmill by the way, but this pish about Le Guen gets on my *.

This season Rangers have dropped just 21 points. That is 10 less than the 31 dropped by Advocat in 97/98 when he won the treble and spent absolute fortunes. It's just three more than the 18 he dropped the following season when winning the double and spent more fortunes. Rangers dropped a massive 39 points in 94/95 and they still won the title by 16 points. This season they have dropped eight less points than the 29 they dropped in season 96/97 and they were up against a really good Celtic team which lost only one game all season.

Samaras was here long before Commons and has taken more penalties in a Celtic strip than Commons. Let me reiterate. Sammy knew what it took to score a penalty at Ibrox and that is the reason no one challenged him when he stepped up to take the second one. Commons had no idea what it was like to step up and score a penalty in front of 50,000 at Ibrox and it was no time for experiments in a potential title decider.

By letting Samaras take the penalty, they were assuming that he would use his past experience of scoring from the spot in a high pressured environment such as Ibrox. The rest, as they say, is history and we now need to live with it.

Rest reassured that Samaras will more than likely never hit a penalty at Ibrox again.

At the beginning of the season I had my doubts about Lenny and thought it was too much of a gamble to pitch a rookie in but he has proved me wrong. You have to give him credit for getting the team to gel and be in a position with three games to go to win the league.
We are all feeling sore about ICTand it will be a hard one if the Gers do win the league but IMO you are way off the mark on Lennon. I also think you are on the wind up with regards Butcher because he has done nothing in his time as a manager; beating us doesn't make him an ideal candidate.
As far as I am concerned let Lenny make his mistakes this year and learn from them, if he doesn't show up next season make your judgements then.

no by saying i was the guy that was down i inferred that i was arguing against about 5 folks at the same time here & you had to jump in & give it a wee sly dig instead of presenting your own argument...ie riding there coat tails

we'll have to agree to disagree on that. samaras shouldnt have been anywhere near that penalty whilst commons was on the park and lenny showed his incompetence by not intervening.

i said it at the time and nothing will change my mind about that. i'd be very suprised if anyone qualified in the game would disagree with my opinion on that.

It wasn't a sly dig by any means. I asked you "can you not see how you are contradicting yourself by saying you didn't want Lennon here in the first place, but now you are saying you don't want him to leave?".

Seems like a valid question to me.

With Motherwell Butcher was doing well, he even managed to get wins from both sides of the Old Firm in one season (I think that season Motherwell was the only SPL team to do this). Losing the League Cup 5-1 to the Huns was a bit sick though. I agree he is a good manager, dunno if he's a Celtic class manager though...

Disagree all you like, but the fact remains you have nothing to back up your theory that Samaras should not have been anywhere near the penalty.

    I, on the other hand.
