Lennon's Subs and Tactics

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by doctor venglos, Oct 4, 2013.

  1. Aye a know they wont star and its such a pitty, I was brought up if you get beat ye change it that's how my team was successful its about keepin that competitive edge within the squad and stopping it from going stagnant.
Trust me mate all it takes is for rogic to have a couple of decent games and you will see him blossom he has it there in him its now down to lennon ect to bring it out but how do they do it when they keep the same mentality in playing the USUAL dross even if they underperform.
same with balde Dylan and the wee Bosnian give them * games start them see them grow and they will reward us. Just look back last year our reserve team against ICT they had a point to prove and ripped them to pieces.
lennon needs to grow a set a balls and have faith in the young guys. Personally I think he has a naievity regarding the youths and fringe players. he doesn't trust them. If I was gaffer that team would've been ripped to bits and the youths would be put on for a few weeks to give them a bolt up the *. yer good enough to be in the hoops yer good enough to play simple as that.

  2. Samaras doesn't deserve to get a strip for the Milan game. It will be an absolute disgrace if it's the same team that starts, and I'll be honest, I would think less of Lennon. At the end of the day, it's the same at any level of football, if someone is playing poorly, they need dropped, it's as simple as that. That embarrassing show we seen from Samaras on Wednesday should mean he misses out against Milan.

I'm prepared to give Commons the benefit of the doubt the other night, as he hadn't kicked a ball for some time, and can only have been half fit. However, I don't think he can quite cut it at the top level of football. Forrest is another that should thank his lucky stars if he plays in the next game. Fortunately for him, we don't have anyone really that can challenge him for that spot. If all players that should be fit are, then I would go with.

  3. Pukki looked dangerous when he came on on Wednesday, does he deserve a start?

Commons has done nothing to merit a start against Milan but Rogic has? :smiley-laughing002:

We definitely need to be utilising fringe players more in domestic cup games and some league games, so when first team players are off form we know what these players are capable of playing alongside their team mates in a game environment.

  6. I just feel that Balde is far more suited to the lone striking role mate. He has shown previously, against Liverpool, (friendly or not), that he can hold it up and bring others into play. I don't see the benefit of playing Pukki up against the likes of Mexes if I'm honest. Whereas I think Balde's strength and power could cause more problems.

I wouldn't be against it mate but Balde's touch so far has been hit and miss, it would be a frustrating night but I think his sheer size causes a lot of problems.

  7. His poor touch might well be down to a lack of games, or, he may well just be the new Cascarino (aka concrete feet)

I think he could cause problems as well mate, and if going by the other night, we are adopting the route one style of football, we have no better striker than Balde for that style (if it can be called that) of play.

  8. Could be down to games mate but both Lenny and Balde have said it's an area they are working on. He's worth a try if we're going thay style though.
