Lennon's Subs and Tactics

I've said it plenty before but it is Gordon Strachan football again. We just aren't good to watch at all. Strachan wasn't liked mainly for that style of football and if things don't improve soon, things will have to change imo. This isn't a knee * reaction. I just can't watch that utter * anymore

We are brilliant at defending but we have no idea what to do with the ball. Stokes and Van Dijk were the only ones who were comfortable with the ball at their feet

This is spot on. The football we are play sing has not changed one bit . Lenin has got to change the teams tactics and style.

 

Kayal looked * off tonight when he was subbed and rightly so. I've defended Lenny over and over but he constantly subs Kayal around 70 mins. If it's because he thinks he's not fit he ought to take a look around the rest of the team.Out of our whole team there is only Ambrose and Van Dijk who actually look like athletes and tonight Kayal was our best midfielder yet he took him off again

 

His subs were baffling tonight (and this is from a guy who usually defends Lenny). I mean subbing Stokes was madness...

 

We're not an entertaining team to watch. As poor as I can remember us being.

On this occasion tho, Lennon is at fault.

1. He had a player come back from a hamstring injury and wasnt really in the game, last 81mins!!
2. It was obvious that Samaras was having a cant be arsed game and he stayed on for the whole game.
3. Stokes was playing the role of lone striker AND on the wing, IMO he had a good game aswell, yet he's the player to get hooked for Derk, leaving Samaras as my last point indicated to play the role of Striker when he is most definatley not a striker.

Lennon's problem is not knowing when to make the correct substitution and the correct player. This is not the first time this has came up and i doubt it will be the last. ALL blame is at his door tonight

 

The last time I was right * off at Lennon was the Karagandy away game where his decision making was * disgraceful and ultimately lost us the game. Personally I wouldn't point all the blame at him for this one but there definitely was some poor decisions from him here.

Samaras should have been off imo. pathetic game. Kayal should have stayed on i thought

 

kayal played very very well second half i thought. if only the man could shoot!

 

I was actually going to start a thread this morning about Lennon's subs before I seen this. And it's not a knee * reaction to last night, because his subs at times are very questionable, and have been for some time.

However, last night was by far the worst I've witnessed. I thought his team selection was fine, and I would have probably went with that same X1. But when players are having a shocker, he has to change it. Forrest had touched the ball about 4 times the whole first half, and just couldn't get into the game, he never really improved second half, yet plays 90mins. Samaras had probably his worst game in a Celtic jersey, and he has had a few shockers in his time, but last night topped the lot, he played 90mins.

Kayal was the better of our central midfielders, yet he is first off and Mulgrew remained on. He took off our only recognised striker when we are chasing a goal also. The favouritism was there for all to see last night in my opinion. It was embarrassing.
