Aye, but they both had the option of managing in the English Premier - the richest league in the world. Of course they're not going to come to the SPL instead.

However, there are hundreds of decent managers with a track record out there that we could get.

Agreed, we can't compete with the the big European leagues when it comes to attracting managers - but surely we've not fallen so far that we need to bring in someone with ZERO management experience? I mean Neil Lennon?

Might as well get Sean Lennon or Julian Lennon they've got the same amount of management experience.

Everybody starts somewhere..if no teams hired inexperienced managers there would be a slight problem in the footballing world.

    Pep Guardiola
    Laurent Blanc

Just a couple of guys with no experience who took over top clubs and did outstanding. But we might as well get John Barnes back, he has experience! Experience * is complete bullocks.

Lets hope he turns out to be as good as those potentially world class managers..but lets hope the players that Lennons got play like the players the others have.

What i'm saying is..the likes of Barca you could just tell your players to go out and enjoy themselves before the game and that could be your whole team talk, they'd then go out and rip some team a new hole.

You dont win every possible trophy by telling your players to go enjoy themselves. That is absolute rubbish.

And Blanc took Bordeaux from a mediocre French team to a team that is now in my opinion the best in France and still in the Champions League.

So if Lennon wins every game, beats the Huns and wins the Scottish Cup, then we should still look for a new manager because Lennon isnt experienced?

Aye but not at Celtic Park.

He can start at East Stirling or somewhere and prove himself there.

If he wins every game I'll revise my opinion. And eat my shoes.

To say Bordeaux were a mediocre team is a bit exagerated is it not? They have always had a good reputation. You have to go back nearly six years to when they last had a bad year. Laurent took over a team in 2007/2008 that finished 6th and missed 3rd place (Champions League place) by a point in a 20 team league..not exactly mediocre...he has done well though.

Lennon is the Man for the job !!

Neil lennon was a fantastic player who wore his heart on his sleeve and i have no doubt he will show the same passion as the manager of celtic fc.He comes across as the type of guy who can get the best out of players and will take no nonsense if players are not pulling their weight.Good Luck Lenny! Do us Proud !!!!Mon the hoops !!

i would absolutly love to be in the dressing room for the old firm game with him giving the team talk

"get into those orange hunny ba*stards, snap lafferty if he comes near you" well something similar to that

I'm actually quite excited to see what he can do with the squad, these players CAN be good, they need to be organized.

This is what worries me too.

I think we should get an experienced manager as TM's replacement and hopefully Lennon can be his assistant. He's a brilliant character to have around, I'm just not sure he's going to be great tactically. Hope he proves me wrong though.

I think Lenny can only be an improvment on mogga, who in my living memory, was easily the most disastorous manager I can remember at Celtic, and thank * he wasnt given till the summner with any more cash.

If Lenny can simply organised that side on the park, intstil more passion, play a steady 11 week in week out till the end of the season, he will be a far more successful Celtic manager than Mogga

lads FFS i have to laugh at this neil lennon is passionate bull. ya great but that dosent make you a good manager. you can jump up and down all day in the dressing room or on the touchline but what good is that unless you know your stuff as a manager. all managers are passionate, some mightnt show it just in there expressions.

I would love him to be a success but...

regardless of who is in charge we still have a left back who is rubbish, two centre half's who can't defend, a defensive midfielder who can't pass, another central midfielder who just runs about...

no doubt he will get best out of McGeady and our strikers have being doing well of late...

but to ask an untried to manager to try and sort this shambles is to me another failing of the board

why not appoint someone experienced??...look at the job craig brown has done at motherwell

The majority aren't saying that because hes passionate he will be a good manager. Its a good place to start right enough because there has been no passion in the celtic dressing for a long time.

Its amazing what a different face can do in the dressing room ,we just have to get behind the Manager from now on ,we know the Celtic job isnt a walk in the park as proven by Mowbray but he didnt make it easy on himself but if Lennon can organise the team on the park and players know there roles which basically was out the window ,we hopefully should see a big improvement in the players performance.

I am not saying TM was doing a good job. I just can’t understand the logic of moving out TM and putting NL in charge as if with all his management experience he will do any better.

NL just happens to be in the right place at the wrong time, I think he will need to be careful his management career is not over before it starts.

To ask NL to take the helm is being naive TBO, and shows the guys above TM haven’t got a clue in how to run a club. Who hires the manager, is it guy’s like John Reid and if so, what do they really know about football.

I think the board panicked because they knew the time for season ticket renewal is just around the corner. With weighing up the fact of losing a couple of million to Tony or more than double that with people not investing in the club I think was the major reason rather than TM’s ability to turn it around.

The board should have come out saying that NL will take over for Saturday’s game whilst they look for a new manager. To come out and say that NL will be in charge till the end of the season and let him bring in big Mjallby kind of tells me that the board have settled.

I am disappointed TBO and I don’t think anything is going to change.

You know, it is down right madness, if NL fails in his quest to win the Scottish cup and keep 2nd place in the league, nothing will be said and then we will still have the problem with someone new coming in during the summer not really knowing how good the team is and we will be back where we where lasts August. If he does win the cup and keep second place which is no mean feat, are they going to keep him? Or are they still going to bring someone in. It is a mess :38:

I dont think many people are saying he will be the best manager in the world

he is a good stop gap at the moment, his passion for Celtic cannot be in question either, and if he wins the scottish cup, and wins all or most of the remaining games as gaffer and the old firm game, rightly or wrongly, he will be in with a shout for the job full time, period!

And thats also simply because our board are notorious cheap skates, and will be praying lenny and johan will be a success!

Im like most, wouldnt be my choice for the full time job, but if they do well, and end up with the job, lets hope we all get behind them, rather than this ridiculous split we had with strachan, we cant compare it with mogga, he brought that on himself.

But thats all a discussion for the end of the season I suppose
