Basically he'll be the manager and not a head coach. It doesnt really matter which he is tbh, as long as its the setup that suits him.

The only issue with the manager setup is that you are relying heavily on your assistant for information whereas the head coach is there watching the players all the time and knows exactly who's doing well and who could be doing better.

    EDIT

It was said in this interview

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/8588663.stm

I think he got the 'soft mentality' of our squad spot on and I like that his view on the "playing the celtic way" is the exact same as mine!

I really dont see this as the answer long term ive looked and saw people saying it worked for Barcelona etc Yes it did work for them and that was outstanding , but i dont see it working here hope he does well then goes in the summer down south and works his way up like Sutton , Lambert etc ,
This route never worked at AC Milan with Leonardo , Also never worked at Juventus with Ciro Ferrara it can back fire , Lets pray the board have some sence and dont even think twice about giving Lennon the job.

I think Lennons mentality is more like Pep Guardiola than Ciro Ferrara or Leonardo.

Leonardo is a technical director, he was very good in that role for AC Milan, your right he's not a manager more of a thinker and planner but the problems at AC Milan arent his fault tbh. Any manager would have struggled given the crap thats happening there. Most of that squad should have been put out to pasture 2 seasons ago.

As for Ciro Ferrara, I'm not sure why it went so wrong for him. I dont know enough about Juve's season tbh

TBH, If Lennon wins all his games and brings home the Scottish Cup, regardless of what he says in interview or what system he uses, he should get the full time job imo

He is unique that he has 9/10 games to win the job hands down and I want him to get it. Shame on anyone that wants him to fail just so he doesnt get the job, SHAME!

Of course he would love to, he's not going to say that he doesn't want it is he? :86: I think he'll step down and become a 1st team coach with the new manager, whoever that'll be.

The only way Lennon will end up being permanent manager is if we are really struggling for cash and the board look at him being the cheap option.

I still think they need to make a big manager signing to put bums back on seats at Celtic Park.

Can't see this happening unless he does amazing job until the end of season. Board has showed they can get the finger out when we needed to splash out cash, I hope they do the same in summer for both players and new gaffer.

He was a key player throughout one of the best periods in recent memory. It'd be great if it works out. Every great manager has to start somewhere... Hopefully Lenny is one of those great managers. I'm really pulling for him.

If he shows that he can hack it between now and the end of the season then I don't see why not, if he does well the he should be given a shot next season no doubt. :50:

I agree that whichever set-up suits Neily best is the one he should go with. We might have our own personal preferences but if Neily wants to do it the 'O'Neill way' then that's good enough for me. It's not done MON any harm after all.

I like what Neily said about pressing teams more and RAISING THE TEMPO OF THE GAME. This is something I've been crying out for us to do for seasons now.

    Tomorrow shall be interesting................
