This is what needs to be done.

Enough of this cryptic pish and come out and define what is acceptable and what is not.

It's pretty desperate stuff from the board getting Lenny to release a statement purely because they know we love the man.

Rebel songs & IRA chants are the same thing are they not???

the "OOH AAH up the `RA" is not an add on its how the song was originaly wrote.

Well whats these offensive songs then???

Today the UK queen laid a wreath at an IRA garden of rememberance..

..& im gonna keep singing IRA & rebel songs whenver i like.

the only songs i dont agree with are ones that bring religion into it... the "roamin in the gloamin" or "soon there will be no Protestants at all" ..but i wasnt aware of these still being sung.

I would think that's what the elbow is being pointed at.

He's taken a very nice tact with this statement, I think it's fair to suggest no one wants Celtic's name tarnished which is fair enough. The PIRA chants and the rest of the chants of that ilk have to stop within football stadia.

I can't see anywhere in the statement quoted what songs he's referring to.

Supposing he means rebel songs....no more Irish National anthem?

Haven't watched the news yet, but I thought they were going to play GSTQ in the rememberence gardens in Dublin today?

In regards to the GB. As far as I`m aware they are in regular meetings with the Mr Lawell; so maybe instead of Celtic Park its with reference to away games. Also is it not maybe a little warning as apparently we are due a knuckle wrap for Tynecastle, has the SPL delegate not mentioned us in his report.

On a day when the queen lays a wreath for Irish republicans who fought for independence who can realy deem these songs offensive ?

Boys of the Old Brigade can stay I’d imagine. It has context and history.

Random ‘up the RA’ or ‘P I R A’ chants are probably a bit different though.

pretty daft idea IMO as what if they ban some then the press latch on and spray the papers wi, oh they have allowed this song and it glorifies former ira members bla bla bla

better just blanking the IRA issue, same way the huns decide to blank their songs of hate

I don't know what songs he means surely to get sanctions against the club they would have to be bigoted or racist. Im not aware of any that fall into that category.
