He was last year..not so much this year.

I think it's incorrect to suggest all he has to his game is pens. He's quite clearly an excellent penalty box finisher.

The fact he can take pens (something many of our strikers over the years haven't been able to do) is a bonus.

He’s developed into something I thought he wasn’t capable of. He’s played in the 10 at times, he’s an all rounder now, who scores a myriad of different style of goals. He would be a good signing, he’s just not a £6m worth player for us. Especially at the age he’s at now.

He's not £6m for us but Hearts won't get that much mate.

I don't think it'll happen. Can see him going down south.

Aye and won’t be expecting it either, they’d accept £4m odd I think

Listening to Open Goal, they keep saying £3m for him, at £3m I’d sign him. That would be worth it, 28 now experienced in the league and has done well every level he’s played at with Hearts, and Scotland now.

That’d be worth it. It it’s double that price, at £6m that’s been reported they want (and it’ll be less than that, be stupid not to put out a higher price) that’s not worth it.

We’ve signed players at £2.5m usually, not too much less really, by the boatload that are just a punt. I think we know exactly what we can expect off him from what he’s shown.

He’s at a level as a player that I never ever thought he was capable of reaching, he’s an all round player, scores a variety of different types of goals and also is the guy who will score when it’s really needed most for Hearts now. If it’s around £3m we should be all over it.

And up until maybe a year and a half ago I had such an opposite opinion of him, thought he was overrated, a poacher, padded stats due to penalties and couldn’t do anything outwith the 18 yard box.

Why are ppl still debating this?

There's no link at all, unless you count a tweet, which pastes a "story" from * HITC in it.

I thought we had ruled about posting things like this. Ie. The source had to be reputable.

Bin this thread and debate the VH one, or the other boy in Scandinavia instead. At least those links are solid, and not pishy clickbait.

If we're only discussing links, we'd not be looking at or transfer section until the summer.

Aye most transfers I can think of come out the blue, within a couple days of being linked.

Very few are ones that drag out over a long period, and the ones that do that are actually not bullshit, we usually don’t sign when it gets that dragged out.

Only one I can remember that was drawn out and public that we were trying to get them that we actually got over the line is Scott Sinclair. Sure theres been others since but can’t think of any

I’m using the penalty count not to discredit him as a striker but point out why kyogo is better and miovski is a better

I think he would be a great "leigh griffiths type signing". Would score bucketloads in the league, and probably be happy warming the bench.

There was one link although a tenuous one that requires speculation. Rodgers at a press conference bummed him up unprompted.

There's been less links in the past for players and they've been discussed.

Shanklands name, whether true or not, has been mentioned in connection with us in some of the rags in the country so its a media rumour.

We’re sitting on a small fortune at the moment so money isn’t an issue. Way I see it shankland coming here would all but guarantee the title and make no mistake at the moment we’re bang in the middle of a proper title race. The money that comes from winning the league would pay him back and cover the fact he’d have next to no resale value.

Sometimes the right option is staring us in the face, and as much as we’d like to go and sign a cheaper, younger alternative who may go on to bank us a fortune that would be an unnecessary risk. We’re a Kyogo injury away from being in deep * and signing shankland would completely cover that.

    I wasn't aware of that.

But I still think anything coming from HITC should go into the "non media" rumor box.

They literally chat * *. The staff OBVIOUSLY scam fan boards like this one, write a clickbait headline, and run a "story" where they basically recommend a player.

    Nauseating.

Tbf that outburst of praise for him could just be because he scored in our defeat a while ago. Ill try and find the link but was maybe a celtic fan site.

I am sure this was the article and like you have mentioned about click bait headlines it did originally say "At this press conference Rodgers gushed about shankland unprompted " they have since changed the title.

Completely depends on how much we are willing to pay for another striker. If we are looking to spend the sort of money that lands you an Eduoard or Dembele then yes, to * with shankland. On the other hand if we are looking to shell out £3/4M then I'd argue that shankland is probably less risky then taking a punt elsewhere. We know what we are getting, he can certainly score in this league and who knows, with better service, might go up another level.

With kyogo here, I cannot see us breaking the bank. The thinking probably is a second choice striker and oh becoming third choice. On paper that makes either miovski or shankland logical targets

No. He would not consider coming here to be anything other than the first choice striker. With the Huns having issues there, I'd be shocked if he doesn't simply wait for a summer move to them. Could he do a job for us? No more than Kyogo, because of how deep Kyogo plays under Rodgers.

I'm pretty sure the huge wages will make him come either way.
