Who gives a * what a child tweeted in 2012? These things aren’t even offensive unless you’ve got skin the depth of rice paper.

 

Plenty of playing opportunities here for another striker, IF they are good enough.

We're reluctant to play OH even when Kyogo was struggling bcos he isn't reliable.

We need to be aiming higher than Shankland. He's limited but can put the ball in the net. The comparisons to Kris Boyd aren't far off the mark. We need someone with a bit more to their game than that. Our last 3 main strikers have been Dembele, Édouard, Kyogo. That's the level we need to aim for. If he's good enough he won't be a back up, he'll be fighting for that starting jersey & that's what we want.

Édouard was forcing his way in whilst Dembele was here, to the point we looked to be changing our system to go with 2 up before injury scuppered what would have been some double act.

 

Those posts are from 2012 and 2013. I think we can give him a little break and say they are outdated and done when he was a silly teenage.

People should be held to account for racism and homophobia though, regardless of how long ago it was. Rather than just trying to sweep it under the carpet by deleting a twitter account.

Personally I wouldn’t bring him in because without knowing much about him I feel he’s probably a bit of a *, more suited to the Huns.

This! I have - in my yoof - done many a boneheaded thing (thanks booze!) but I'm a totally different person now. At school, they always ask - Where do you see yourself in life and I often think it should be - where do you see yourself in ten years - as every ten years, we often change attitudes etc. At 29, I was totally different to 19. At 39, I was different to 29 (thanks Alan Watts) and at 52...I think I should just give up lol

There may be reasons not to sign Shankland, but stupid tweets from when he was 17 isn't one of them.
