Really rate this guy. Hopefully Brendan gives him decent amount of playing time this season.

Have a feeling this kid will really step up to the plate if given the chance in the groups.

    Genuinely forgot about this lad!

Couldn't he possibly be our ball winner in midfield, or even creator?

I see no harm in trying.

He's already played two full 90 mins in the Challenge Cup against Annan and then Cowdenbeath.

He could be both. I was really impressed with him against Inter, albeit a friendly.

Very very impressive record at IK Start.

    60 appearances, 13 goals, 7 assists.

He was mainly 17 years old, they were in Norway's top flight throughout too.

I thought he looked good in every appearance he's made. Strong, good tackler, good passing ability, and solid positionally. Needs to work on his ability moving up the pitch but he's still only 17. Would love for him to get a chance at DM.

A mixture of first team and developement squad football will do him very good this season.

He managed 8 league goals in 30 games in the Norwegian Tippeligaen, 2015 season.

Scored 12 goals in 34 games all competitions that year.

We could absolutely try him in at least our league cup game at home to Alloa and then all being well even a league match at home against a Hamilton or Kilmarnock.

I see no harm in it, he has unbelievable league game experience for someone of his age already.

Think his experience at start deserves a proper go at it this season.

He looked composed and good in some of the preseason, certainly enough to suggest he could develop fast and get some league starts.

Hoping that him not featuring as much is more down to Brendan playing it a little safer and judging his best attributes and where to fit him in.

Be happy to see him het the cup games and double figures league starts this season, should be enough to impress and find out his best role in the squad.

Did Start no play him as a striker as well sometimes?

Choking too see more of him, comes with a reputation and I wouldn't like to see that fizzling out from lack of game time. By all accounts he will be a quality player.

As far as I know they played him in every position through the spine and he was their captain at the age of 17 :smiley-laughing002:

That's CB, CDM, CM, CAM and CF

    Madness:56:

It's just a case of us finding his best position and playing him there then. I know Brendan said he sees him as a CB but I get the feeling he doesn't want to play the position, CDM is his preferred I reckon.

I mind mjalby said the same about wanyama when he first came in.
Something like "expect him in the youth team and don't see him for a year. Can play many positions but best is cb" 3 games later he is our best player as a powerhouse dm.

Ajer doesn't look as bulky(time for that) but I get the feeling he will be a quality player for us. Thinking busquets standard and style.

Maybe not Busquets standard mate, he's one of, if not the best DM about. Certainly similarities though:50:

That's down to us though, we'll need to play him and let him develop.

I've high hopes for him and reckon he's got the potential for the very top but I just think comparisons to Busquets etc are a bit premature.

These Scandinavian boys have the right mind set. They like to train and improve so hopefully we can see him alot this season.

Nah realistically, would take the kid a lot of work to get remotely near that level, but at his age and experience so far, then that hard work could get him there.

Standard wise he is miles away from it, but style I think his best role is to play a similar game to busquets. Just hope we find that space for him.

My fear is we do a gravesen on him. Sign a dm best played in a 3 man midfeild, then try and shoe horn him in to a flat 4.
