With someone so young it's best to give him a chance come over let him and his parents see everything we have to offer. Best making it as less stress as possible for both the player and parents. If that attitude is taken from the start you'll find the parents will prefer us as a choice rather than a club who comes in with here's the money are you going to take it or leave it sort of attitude.

Not sure where this talk of starting in two years comes from. He'd be pushing for a place in our side immediately.

:97::97::97: There is every bit of risk. Just like with Oedegaard. You cannot assume putting such high expectations on a teenager won't cause a mental breakdown. Talent and potential are vague things. I'd be fine with a deal that sees him stay at his club until he turns 20, then goes over to us for a pre-determined fee, if we think he's good. In the meantime, we need a defensive midfielder with some experience.

How many supertalents ended up...nowhere? Deisler quit football because of depression. We need a seasoned player right now- one who can step up to the situation, not a youth.

Why not wait until he's 27 or 28 just in case he's shy as well?:50:

Deisler quit because of injury that lead to depression, what are you on about? :97:

A seasoned player? We are never getting a seasoned player.

This. Why would he come here ?

I haven't seen him play by the way. Just going on his excellent stats for his age.

There's been a shitload of highly rated you gaters that don't make it.

    Just look at Freddy Adu.

That doesn't mean you don't look at them, that's lunacy.

Could be the understudy to brown in the midfield, and if it means that when Browns out we still have a midfielder who can tackle, sign him right up

At this rate we can't even get a seasoned player that is good enough. Its strong in the media that we can get Souttar which would do nothing to strengthen us. I don't understand the idea that if we bring in a inferior player or someone in the Management will some how make us better, its renouncing reason its like administering medicine to the dead.

Good move inviting him for a trial.

Gives us a chance to run the rule over and see if he has the potential to develop. I'll be honest, I've never heard of the lad so in some respect its good where being cautious.

I agree. Could Ronny not point at Odegaard as a reason to come here. Odegaard was getting much more press than this guy & it's not quite happened for him at Madrid (yes still very young I know). It's more than likely to be on the players mind & Ronny's that we would be the right move for him at this stage of his career. Will get more game time etc etc.

Freddy had his career assassinated by MLS, Nike, and an American public whose only joy greater than having a savior is tearing them down. Not relevant, but I can't help but be depressed whenever I see the name.

Can you give some detail on what you think of Ajer? I'm assuming you know him well

I think there have been a lot of incredibly (ludicrously so for a small country) talented midfielders to come out of Norway recently, but a lot of them lacked an edge both on and off the field. Ajer doesn't lack it. He strikes me as a born leader, rarely for a young guy with his height he's already comfortable and quite coordinated, and has a quiet but solid confidence. In American sports a word used a lot is "intangibles", and he's got pretty much all of them.

On the field he has a bit more to learn positionally - Tippeligaen can be a frantic and undisciplined league when it comes to defensive tactics and, while his offensive exploits are well-documented, he was in the center midfield ahead of a defense that gave up over two goals per game. He'll need to be a bit more disciplined but he strikes me as the type that understands what's needed and will learn quickly. Technically he's still quite strong, I think he could wind up being a player somewhere between Bitton and Wanyama (both in total ability and playing style) by the time he's 20, and if he keeps developing could be a very, very fine player indeed.
