Ajer isn't coming back, he's got 3 years left at Brentford and we'd probably have to at least pay 40kpw plus the transfer fee.

Former Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has been told he needs to change clubs by Norway manager Stale Solbakken.

It comes after the 27-year-old played just three times for Brentford at the centre of defence last season.

Solbakken would like Ajer to turn out in his natural position more regularly, and thus thinks he should leave the Premier League outfit.

The boss spoke after his side's 3-0 win over Italy last Friday evening, in which the ex-Celt completed 90 minutes at centre half.

"He can be a very good and stable centre-back, and he was today, but he has to change clubs," said Solbakken [Sport Witness].

"He cannot play right-back in every third game if he is to be a proper, safe and good centre-back. Because he has all the prerequisites.

"I think Ajer would have been better suited to playing centre-back in another league. He has had some tough injuries in England.

"He will never be a super right-back, at the same level as he is as a centre-back. At the age he is now, I think he is allowed to put his foot down. You can’t be a ‘cover’ right-back at his age now.

"Many people get angry with me when I say things like that publicly, but I think we should be a little honest about it. Not that I’m going to interfere with Brentford selling him, but he’s at an age and is a type of player who can develop into a very stable, good defender at a high level."

Take back in a heart beat. Comfortable with the ball at his feet and can play RB if needed.

Plus he was one of the few that appeared to give a * in the doomed 10iar season.

What a * that manager sounds. Although I’d definitely be happy with ajer back at centre half for us.

I’d imagine though going by the sounds of the manager he wouldn’t pick him if he played in Scotland!

    Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

The perfect fit for CCV - even though he's not left footed, he's played there a bunch and his biggest skill is his distribution. CCV as the defensive presence and Ajer as the ball progressor would be the best partnership we've had in years.

I thought he was very underrated..

    Really quick
Versatile in that he could also play right back, started in midfield as well
Was comfortable bringing it out from the back
    Passing was good

He would actually complement Carter-Vickers well..

Can't see it though. Think it's lazy journalism at the minute, can't ever remember a window where sp many ex players were linked again. I don't like that approach either in the main..

Wouldn't want Ajer back. Yes he can progress the ball forward, but so can Scales.

Ajer is a bombscare in defence.

We can do much better. We want better than Scales and Trusty.

Obviously he'd be incredible back here but there's no hope he'd come.
Tell Brentford they can have Kuhn for 15 million and Ajer
