I was just thinking about that. He and Griffiths coming on at 65 or so. At the moment they both deserve to be in the 11 though.

Think GMS would have to be dropped for him as Armstrong does more defensively.

Don't get why folk get * off with him shooting from outside the box. For years we didn't have a player with a decent dig, it's not as if they are all hit and hopes, most are on target or very close with power, his goal return proves that as much as anything else.

GMS shouldn't be dropped for anybody. Arguably our best player so far this season.

Definitely top 3, but that's the problem. I know i rate Commons as our best attacking midfielder, both in terms of creating and scoring chances, but defensively he's not so hot.

Who to drop though? Johansen is RD's golden boy and Armstrong plays on the left and does a lot of dirty work...

Our only midfielder that has mastered the art of finding space between oppositon defence and midfield -constantly takes up brilliant positions in little pockets of space. Adds a complete other dimension to our game and completely stretches opposition defences . We are miles more likely to create chances/score a goal with movement like that in the team. Absolutely wasted on the bench , criminal for the likes of James Forrest .

I'm hoping he gets much more game time this season and isn't seen as a super-sub.

I'd start Commons in a lot of games. But then at the same time. A front 3 of GMS, Armstrong and Johansen is excellent.

Commons just adds such a positive dynamic to our attacking.

    Yeah Griffiths as well.

I was actually listening to the Celtic Underground podcast earlier and they were discussing just that. Both would be excellent to come on against tired opposition and get into spaces where they can let fly.

Both are good at doing that from the start

Griffiths is doing it at the moment, but I still think Commons is a better impact sub.

Based on what? He scores and sets up whenever he plays, regardless if it's off the bench or no.

Nobody will agree but should be ahead of Johansen behind the striker I think Johansen is a decent player & nothing more than that & from what ive seen from him in the few european games he has played for us I dont think he looks up to it Commons should b there behind the striker but Deila loves Johansen I think Commons out wide is a waste.

Johansen was our best player last season playing in that position, and is already off the mark this season.

Commons hasn't exactly shined in Europe, a few good goals but he can't deal with the pace it's played at. Plus Johansen is the main reason we are able to play such a high and intense pressing game. He's started out playing quite this season but already has few goals and assists.
