Why the * is everyone talking about McGregor in the Kris Commons thread?

Can't blame people for getting confused.

I'm guessing Kris will start on Saturday. We're a worse team offensively without him. Had my doubts about him at times last year, but we've missed him in pre-season - especialy against packed defences

Commons is a game winner, I don't think there has ever been any doubt in that.

He may come in for Armstrong but I wouldn't bet on it. Don't think he's in out best starting 11 right now. Great player to have on the bench or even starting a few games throughout the season but I can't see why he'd walk back into the team.

Only 3 games in, its still July - the team just isn't up to speed yet.

Agreee, offensive qualities never in doubt. He also adapted well to the new system in the 2nd half of last season. Really miss seeing him on the pitch now

He needs the game time after missing out on preseason. Armstrong's done ok, but not enough to have a lock on the starting 11 imo

Aye, I fully expect him to be in the team on Saturday, it'd give one of the other three a rest before next week and help him get up to speed.

He certainly doesn't have a lock on the starting 11 no but I think in Ronny's long term plan he does and Ronny wants those players on the pitch together as much as possible.

I wouldn't be against Commons starting on Saturday but right now the only starting slots I see as being up for grabs is LB and CF.

Funny that, he's one of the first people on my teamsheet. He scores and he creates, he's experienced, he's exactly what we need in games like this. A player who can score or create a goal out of nothing, pick up on those spaces inbetween defence and midfield.

Hope he's fit for next week, he was on for ten minutes, set up a goal and caused trouble.

Him and Griffiths are goal threats, Armstrong and Ciftci aren't at the moment.

I don't even think it was the 2nd half, he was getting to grips with it very early on. Look at Stokes goal our first game of the season last year, all came from Commons closing down. 1st half of the season he was injured a lot though.

He's a danger, always in space, direct, good passer and a good goalscorer. He'll be up and around the top of the goalscorer charts again this season, no doubt for me.

Commons done two things of note when he came on, one good, one bad. He took the corner for the goal and hit a woeful shot that he could have possibly passed for a better oppertunity. Basically the usual Commons performance condensed into 10 minutes.

Commons can be great but he can also be incredibly frustrating. Often times when he doesn't score its been a waste of a jersey. But he is a game winner and can do things that others in the team can't. So he's basically scrapping it out with Armstrong at the minute for that position and I think Ronny prefers Armstrong.

Between Armstrong and Commons I'd play Armstrong purely for his ability to shut them down and the energy he'll have on the counter. Commons is a great option to bring on if things aren't going well.

Another thing Commons brings is experience. Last night there was a point after 1-0 when Forrest broke down the right and tried to cross it off balance and basically just gave them possession back. Commons had a similar thing in the final few minutes with no pass on and he held the ball for ages and eventually won a free kick. Those are the kind of things that make a massive difference in a tie.
