All that matters is his record at Celtic, couldn't give a * how he done anywhere else.

His record here is excellent for a midfielder.

    * unbelievable . Score 32 goals from midfield and your own fans start slagging you off for shooting too much . Clueless.

Yes he can justify it . that is why if we dont give it to him there will be plenty of other clubs who will . He is 31 , not 38 .

This is a player who is in his peak years. Forward players who never relied on their pace tend to maintain their level of performance for longer than usual. Sheringham/Bergkamp are common examples.

Great point. Although Commons is nowhere near as clever as these two he does have similarities in playing style in that he relies on guile rather than pace

What a terrible thing for a midfielder.

I wish the plc would just give him the two years he has earned it through consistent performances.

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Kris Commons has signed a new two-year deal, committing himself to the club until the summer of 2017.

Kris joined Celtic in January 2011, and made a goalscoring debut for the club, netting in the 4-1 League Cup semi-final victory over Aberdeen at Hampden.

He has gone on to make 175 appearances for Celtic, scoring 74 goals, the most recent coming last weekend, also at Hampden, as he helped the team reach the final of this season’s League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Rangers.

Kris told the official Celtic website: “I’m absolutely delighted to have signed this new contract with the club. I’ve loved my time at Celtic and this is where I want to continue playing my football.

“The Club is in a great place, we’re still in four competitions this season, and already have a cup final to look forward to, and I want to continue playing my part in bringing more success to the club.

“I’m also delighted to continue playing in front of these magnificent fans, who have been brilliant with me and my family from the day I joined Celtic.”

Celtic manager Ronny Deila added: “I am really pleased that Kris has committed his future to the Club. "He is someone who has already made a great contribution to Celtic and I am sure he will continue to be a very important player for us as we work hard to bring our fans the success they deserve.”

“We have had a good week after reaching the League Cup final and following the fantastic signings of Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven, Kris’s contract extension is even more great news for the Club and our supporters."
