Was 20 goals the season before and he's perfectly capable of hitting that again this season. If we set up as we did last season 30's not out of the question either.

Commons plays against weaker teams and was far more experienced when he first joined. Maloney started he as a youth that is reflected in his stats and he had more competition for places.

Maloney has had 2 full seasons ruined by injury as well. I'd rate them as equal.

Commons is like a contemporary Moravcik, been great for us and a player I wish we had signed younger and got more years out of.

You need to take Maloneys injuries into account as players as well.

Commons is far more reliable, due to not constantly getting injured.

    If only it was.

No-one knows the detail (like I said): His application in training, his attitude, his acceptance of the system, whether he expects a coaching role etc etc. All could be major factors in the decision.

After saying Kris has been a reliable player for four season, you must be forgetting his "lost" season at Celtic? Why was he not involved for the best part of the whole season? Just lost form for almost one whole season did he?

I hope we can come to an agreement too btw, but I won't castigate Celtic for it. Two sides to every story but the people who want to lynch Celtic and RD will of course use this to lynch Celtic and RD. It's too easy a thing to do imo.

But then Commons had a full season off the boil with no injuries.

The funny thing about his 'lost' season, he finished that season our top assister. He set up the most amount of goals at the club in his worst season. Even at that, injury and the 3 match ban mostly * up the start of the season for him, he was mostly very good without scoring the second half. People tend to look at aw he only scored one goal and forget about the other parts of his game.

And as I said that full season off the boil for Kris Commons was still good enough to finish the season as the most creative player in our team, setting up the most goals.

I think if thats an off the boil season, then it's still a major asset.

You are falsely equating goal scoring to form. In his so called lost season his assists and general play remained high. By his standards it was not as good but as good or better than his eventual bargain basement replacement will ever produce.

Nah, first half of the season it just wasn't happening for him, then picked up a suspension, then an injury. Second half of the season he was very good though, just not scoring.

Highly doubt Commons is going to score 26 goals in about 30 games.

He'd have to match his best run of form of 14 goals in 21 games to match the season before last. Highly doubt that as well as he hasn't repeated it since.

I meant if we had done so at the start of the season. Even so, traditionally Commons does almost a goal a game in the run in. As in he's done it 3 out of 4 seasons.

Aye ok, he had good to magnificent season that year, definitely not re-writing history here.

I'd like to debate but what's the point? Everyone and his mammy knows Commons had a shocker that year. And yes, it's in comparison the the goodness he does bring "normally."

If this can't be acknowledged then that's fine, crack on.

My friends a big Notts Forest fan - I laughed when he said "he'll give you one great year and do nothing the next."

Again, I want Celtic and Kris to agree something, but people are acting like it's all Celtic's fault and there is no reason not to sign him up. Exact same with Ledley. People see what they want to see and it's repeated as fact.

I certainly wouldn't take the stance of labeling the situation as "* pathetic" but I do think we need to try and find a way to keep a happy and motivated KC in the team.

I do agree on the loyalty part (though I'd be tempted to take the easy route and say it can't exist in football these days.) but you're right. He has been vocal about wanting to stay (and his wife HAS done tons for the "celtic cause") and I think that SHOULD be rewarded.

If he goes I'll wish him the best and he should be remembered as a Celtic Great (whatever the * that is :smiley-laughing002:) but life goes on.

I'll be gutted if we lose him but it looks like a matter of time now.

No what ai'm saying is that Kros at his absolute worst for us was still good enough to be the most creative force in our team. He was good after Christmas but nowhere near his best.

He scored 32 goals last season and 20 the season before, what one was the bad year?:icon_mrgreen:

I agree life goes on but we shouldn't move on until the situation is put of our control.

Commons is a player the wrong side of 30. If we get an offer for him in this window, i would take it. He will get one last payday at a championship or lower premier division club, and fair play to him. He has served the club well, but now we should cash in and promote a younger player.

It, in a nutshell really. He's never going to get more than a 1 year deal.

Been a good player for us over the last four years.

I really don't see a place for him in this team. Time to move on.

Commons and his family have been an absolute credit to the club on and off the park. Hope he stays :50:

He admitted there is nothing that happened in his life that caused his loss of form.
He started the season banned, so he lacked match sharpness and then he picked up injuries. Then, of course, he got that daft red card at Hearts around October time.
Once he got back in the team and had a run of games, he started hitting form again.

14 in his first 21 games and then 10 in 11 at one stage last year. What makes you think he can't go on similar runs given game time?

She's hardly gonna stay here, is she?
