I've noticed a few people have mentioned he would be a good squad player at this stage of his career, my only concern with that is, is he willing to be a squad player? Oh, and I'm assuming he wants more(?)/good money, is that in line with what squad players make.

Kris isn't going for the winter break with the squad. Apparently due to the death of an uncle and he has to be down south with his family.

Not saying this shouldn't be the case of course, but if there's one time we don't want him to be away from the squad and sitting in England instead, it's January 2015.

    2 + 2 = bye bye Commo :54:

Hardly Lawwell's fault that Commons' uncle died though?

Brilliant last night and always been one of my favourite players and should be offered a 2 year deal in my opinion. Has a major role to play if given the chance, he is creative and has a * of a shot on him. Can get something out of nothing but we have seen better players leave and we're still here. Celtics bigger than one player.

It's his fault we're in this position with Commons.

Maybe, there's a lot of blame to share though. Lewwell for being generally cheap, Deila for not being able to realize his potential until the last match and Commons himself for taking time to adapt to a new manager. I hope he gets to start against Hamilton and if he plays like he did yesterday we need to offer him an improved contract ASAP.

The contract situation can't be laid at Deila's feet. He should have been tied down last summer.

Kris Commons is no nearer agreeing a new contract with Celtic, according to the midfielder's agent. Martin Reilly, who wants a two-year deal for his client, told BBC Scotland:

"Kris pledged his future to Celtic by retiring from international football to prolong his club career.

"We feel that should be rewarded. It's not about vast sums of money."

It is understood that Commons is has been offered a 12-month contract and Reilly described that length of deal as unacceptable.

The negotiations are down to the Mr Lawwell. This appears to be going the same way as the negotiations with Sammy last season. Which in fact turned out to be none whatsoever.

Surely the manager has some input? If Ronny says he has use for Commons over the next two year Lawwell should find a place for him, especially since he's so popular with the fans. Sammy really didn't play much last year, it didn't make sense to offer him a new contract

Do you not think Lennon said he had a use for Samaras or Ledley. It didn't stop the board shoving these players out the door in my opinion.

Sammy I can understand letting go. Fair point about Ledley though, there can be no excuse for letting him go for practically nothing.

I can understand letting him go as well, however, you made the point about the manager having an input and Lawwell should be finding a place for him. Lennon would have been desperate for Samaras to stay, and I think him being forced out the door was just one of the issues Lennon had when deciding to call it a day here.

It's plain to see he's one of our main threats. Get him signed, and get this thread closed :56:

Commons will go the same as Sammy & Ledley. The club have openly said their restructuring the wage bill and cant afford to keep the higher earners.

Kris either accepts this or Pedro moves him on.

If Pedro has such a problem with paying these guys the money. Then maybe he should have a look at the fans problem and drop the ticket prices too. Paying extortionate money to watch him let our best players go because they dont meet his wage bracket... Which can only be less than 20k? Im sure brown is highest paid on 25k?
