Earned his place for the next game, id play the same team unless Lustig, Denayer and Stokes are back then Matthews, Ambrose and Henderson should drop out, unfair on Henderson though.

McGregor came on for Stokes against County and then got subbed for Commons himself.

Commons must be pritty bemused, last year the talk was he would become a coach and sign on a longer contract which has changed to maximum of 1 year contract offers? Where's the coaching offer now. Doesn't seem like the best way to treat staff. He's been a good team player and player of the year only last and showed tomight he possibly is still the best player we have. To lose that for 250000 is a joke not only to Celtic but to Scottish football. Get him signed up Peter and tell Bolton to take Ambrose for 2millon. Happy days

Ah yeah you're right, I was thinking it was Commons who got subbed on for Stokes. Regardless though, it was Commons who started tonight.

    Typical Commons tonight for me.

Linked well, in particular he used the switch of play well. He closed down as good as I've seen him do for some time and in tandem with the team. As the * of a ref had decided not to give us free-kicks within a 20 yard radius of the box, we could have seen his ability from that.

We also seen his habit of shooting too often. I'm not going to be overly critical as its good to have someone willing and also able of being a danger(gives defences something to worry about). For example the shot in the first half that scudded the bar with, he had a 1v1 with space to turn and hit. However on a few occasions and because of his ability from distance he will draw a 2nd player to him. He still takes on the shot, which inevitably is blocked.

Someone mentioned the stat during the game as 8 shots and no goals. It looks/sounds quite bad but one was off the bar and another was a decent save from the goalkeeper. Of the rest a good percentage were in situations where the ball coould have been used better.

Aside from that a good display and a player who we could do with hanging onto this season.

Commons performance last night pretty much summed him up for me. A few great shots, popping up in dangerous places around the box and desperately unlucky not to score. However I thought he was caught on the ball to much in the final third, always trying to turn back on himself and take the extra touch. Out of the three of Johanson, Henderson and Commons I would say Commons was the worst in overall play yet was the biggest goal threat. Last season I thought his goals masked a lot of the same kind of general play. I can see why people want him in the team, goals win games and all that, but for me I'm still unsure his overall play is as good as some people make out.

Funny, the one thing that summed up Commons for me last night was when he dropped into a wee pocket of space, turned and played a fantastic through ball to the other side of the pitch for Henderson, who nearly set up Scepovic but could have probably hit the goal himself.

It's play like that we've been missing this season, dangerous, incisive, quick play.

I think he proved last night he can fit into the style we're trying to achieve.

I believe/hope the penny may have dropped that against teams that will camp in their own box someone that can score and create something from half a yard is invaluable. He may not be a long or even medium term solution but, for me, it's a no brainer to give him another couple years.

It's not really a dilemma, is it? I want to find the new Lubo as much an anyone; but meanwhile, it'd be stupid as * to let Commons go.

I thought he proved that ages ago. I thought, with the obvious exception of Johansen, he was actually the first one who really "got" what Ronny wanted. Think of the goal he made for Stokes in Perth.

There's a difference between getting what we're trying to achieve and having the physical tools to achieve it though.

I can understand where a lot of others can't why he hasn't played as much. I also understand we have room in the League for someone that won't press and harry backwards and forwards for 90 minutes though and from our current squad that is 100% Commons.

i agree.theres no dilemma.he should be giving a new contract immedietly hes is our biggest goal threat.thought he was brilliant lastnight.

anyone else think its a bit sad were willing to pay boerigtter and tom rogic,s wages for fucknose how much longer and we cant give arguably our best player and a great servant over the years and a player who still has a lot in his tank an extra 2 year on his deal?

even if he does fizzle out in a year or so,he would still be a great sqaud player to have and a good influence on younger players at the club.

think were going to regret it if he goes to bolton.

Mainly in the hole, though he occasionally drifted wide.

Kris was a yarder or two faster than normal.

    Still think he will leave.

He started on the right but him and Johansen were swapping all the time. Johansen is everywhere, Commons just filled the gaps being left.

This was my impression too. He'll never be lean, but he looked fitter.

Commons showed us all how significant a player he is last night. He is still a stand-out player. If he doesn't get the contract he deserves then there will be serious questions raised against the board.

He clearly wants to stay and all the fans want him, if he goes then it will be an absolute joke. Three years of him being here, he deserves to finish his career at Celtic.

Previous to this game I wouldn't have minded to see him go. He was dangerous all night last night and I'm not sure it would be smart to let such a threat go. The big question is whether or not he will be able to fit into Ronny's scheme going forward. I think he showed last night that's definitely a possibility, even if it was against a poor Killie side. At the very least he provides a good option for squad rotation.

Ah, I missed the first 20 minutes trying to get the stream to work.
