After watching that, what seemed to stick out to me. Commons is not as slow a player as I had him in my mind. Due to how much it gets suggested in here. So for me Commons could still do a job if he is fit. But maybe doesn't fit Brendan's systems.

Can anyone give a legitimate reason as to why he hasn't got a chance under Rodgers, OUTSIDE OF...
    1.He's slow
2.He's too old and immobile to play the way Rodgers wants to play.

The only other reason I can think of is that orders came from above that he would have no role to play in the new regime after his issues with Ronny.

Terrific goal scorer, carried us threw the 2014 season, and even when his issues under Deila plagued his game time, he still showed great quality. I have come to realize that his time here is done, and I know it's the best thing for both him and the club to move on. What I dont understand is why a player of his caliber was never he given a first team chance under Rodgers. Even guys like Allan, Ambrose, and Boyata have been given small glimpses at first team action. Slow, and old isn't enough of a reason for me, his quality should've at least given him some gametime in the pre season. I can't be the only one who would've liked to see him play under Rodgers.

Rodgers obviously doesn't see him as part of his long term plans which is more than good enough for me.

As for him not playing in pre-season, wasn't he injured?

    I'm sure he was aye.

Not trying to sound harsh but I'll be glad when he's gone. It's tiresome seeing people still wanting him to get a chance here when he's clearly not in the plans.

I kinda agree. I'm sounding a bit pragmatic, but he doesn't have a future here anymore. Was a great player a few years back, but he just doesn't fit into our squad

@Mr Monaghan @Dear Hunter Ah, forgot about his injury in preseason. I agree with both of you with regards to him not being in Rodgers plans. If he doesn't see a fit, I have absolutely no issue with that. Im honestly just curious as to why, with some of the players who did get a look, what he doesn't see in Commons. Proved as recently as 2-3 seasons ago that he was our talisman and that his quality hadn't waivered as much as some would say. Just an odd situation in my opinion.

Personally I think Rodgers is correct with his decision with Commons.

He doesn't fit the managers system,he's not flexible to the team formation. He probably doesn't fit his ideology either.

Commons for what its worth, HAS been good value to Celtic.

However his behaviour in Molde, has soured my appreciation of his time with us. I believe his actions were selfish and done no-one any favours, all this from a senior member of the side and someone who should have been an example for the youngsters around. As a teammate,he did nothing to help them or relieve any pressure on them. Indeed, he did the opposite and cranked up the pressure on them for the rest of the season. He took advantage of an inexperienced manager(who made mistakes) undermined him in public and made his position very difficult. And by some accounts he done similar behind closed doors as well. Granted he wasn't the only one doing likewise.Stokes and Mulgrew. Plus Scott Browns misjudgement before the league cup final didn't help the matter.

I'm sorry but I don't agree he was doing it for the love of the club and for the fans. I was disappointed with the fans reaction at the home game after Molde. Essentially siding with an individual over the collective interest of the club at that time.

Cliques, bad attitudes, negativity and anything that goes against the team ethic. Needs weeded out. One thing Rodgers doesn't stand for and one thing that he nipped right from the off.

Ultimately we have a guy on 15k or thereabouts a week. Hasn't featured all season, was loaned out of the club at the very moment we had a difficult run of fixtures and when you thought he may have featured. Rodgers was asked about Commons the other day. His position hasn't changed since the start of the season. I would hope he goes sooner, rather than later. Then we can utilise the money on building a team for this season and next.

I wouldn't mind Commons at Aberdeen. They're nothing compared to us and keeps a good player in the league.

As for his behaviour in Molde, I felt the same as he did. It clearly boiled over. Rodgers wouldn't allow it, has more of a backbone and I'm sure wouldn't allow us to take huge steps backwards without some sort of contingency plan. I felt that the behaviour from Commons could've been shown any week from any player under the old regime.

Regardless, his time here has passed. He has been a tremendous servant to the club. MLS would be a good move for him, but like I said, I wouldn't feel negative towards a move to another Scottish team (bar the obvious).

One of my favourite Celtic players in recent years, and was still one of our top performers in Europe as recently as last season.

The trouble is that Rodgers likes pace at the top end of the pitch, and Commons doesn't really have the physical attributes to play in the managers preferred system (4-3-3). Even if Rodgers did switch back to a 4-2-3-1, Tom Rogic is nailed-on for that 'Number 10' position.

I think the time has come for him to go, but I hope he stays in Scotland.

We all agree that his time is over here, but what a signing he was! I always felt that he can score from any angle, anytime. Great player and great servant to our club over the years, good luck to him in the future.

It's quite poor he hasn't had a send off if true he's leaving. That wee * Izaguirre had about 10 laps of honour and didn't even leave:giggle1:

Aye he got us with that one :56:

I'd love commons to come on last game of the season, 10 mins to go and rocket 3 shots from outside the box in the top corner followed by a red card for over the top good bye celebrations into the crowd, making a good 10 minutes of added time from the time wasted.

I love Commons some of the goals he scored were superb, if he is leaving this month he deserves one last run out in the hoops he's done too much for this club to leave without a proper send off

If he plays for us then he can't move to a team other than Hibs. Unfortunately I don't think we will see him again.
