I've never forgiven him for missing that penalty tbh.

But as he did have a memorable game against them at Ibrox in 2011, I can see why he'd fit into the cult hero category. I loved that game.

He might not be a legend but he is a cult hero from the Samaras show alone.

I know I'm being harsh on him, I just think there were too many occasions where he didn't perform to the best of his ability.

Commons was a better player for Celtic overall than Samaras, in my opinion.

Commons seems to get a hard time of it off a lot of our fans lately, don't really understand it.

He's a cult hero in the same way Paddy McCourt was/is, although a bit better than Paddy:giggle1:. He was a quite * player in my eyes, in all honesty. People make out he was a CL level player because Lenny used him well as out only out ball in most of those games.

In the league, which is our bread and butter, he was posted missing or just not trying most of the time. Imagine him trying to get a game with us now? :giggle1:

Progress made today, said player will now stay with Hibs until end of season with deal expected next week.

Allows player to get match fit and put himself in window and Hibs will pick up 20% of salary.

Sammy was a cult hero because on his day he was absolutely phenomenal and because of that day at Ibrox and scoring the winner in our only ever CL away win. Overall Commons contributed more to the club, I don't think there's any doubt about that, and it is undeniable that Sammy was useless in far too many games.

Me personally, I'll never forget Sammy. Love the guy.

Sorry been away on business for past week, everything was being ironed out yesterday and to be confirmed around Monday that Kris will stay with Hibs until end of season (barring someone nicking in at last minute).

Kris Commons: Hibs boss Neil Lennon plans talks for Monday
Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon intends to discuss Kris Commons' future on Monday.

The Celtic forward joined Hibs on an emergency loan last month - an arrangement that ends on Sunday.

Commons, 33, scored the winner as Lennon's side won 1-0 at Dumbarton to go six points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship.

"Kris will be the main talking point for the next few days," Lennon told BBC Scotland.

"He's brilliant [Kris Commons], he can be on the periphery of games at times, I don't think he's been as fully fit as we would like him to be because it's been such a short period of time, but he's still a class player and he's popped up with another important goal for us.

"We haven't really touched on [Commons' future] yet. On Monday we'll talk about it, and see how Kris is feeling as well. He's a player we'd like to keep hold of, but finances will dictate that.

"Our squad's still thin. We need to add a body or two and we're looking to bring one more player in. Regardless of whether Kris stays or not, we've got the likes of James Keatings, Andrew Shinnie to occupy that position."
