Fair enough in that game he showed up, but was still poor overall. Watched him a few time's when they were on the box and he was really poor, and the Hibs fan's were saying it at the time..

Commons for me will give them a lot more in the league, without doubt..

Kris Commons played through the full 90 minutes, his first game in ten months, which delighted manager Neil Lennon. And the 33-year-old, who was involved in all the set-pieces except for Cummings’ goal, almost marked his debut with a goal in 65 minutes when he spotted goalkeeper Derek Gaston off his line, but his deft chip drifted just over.

Commons, reflecting on his Hibernian debut, said: “I was injured when Brendan Rodgers came in and he knew I was going to be out for another couple of weeks.

“He knew he needed to know his squad for some important Champions League qualifiers and he said to me: ‘Listen, you’re injured, and I know you will work hard and train hard, and the door is never shut at Celtic. But if you are looking for regular first-team football, then I might struggle to give you that at Celtic.’

“But he never said I was finished at the club. I just knew I couldn’t play week in, week out. I had to have respect for that. It was no longer a given that I would be playing week in, week out.”

Commons revealed that he still has a lingering hope that his four-week sortie with Hibernian will kick-start his Celtic career.

He added: “Listen, I never want to leave Celtic. They will have to kick me out the door. Once my contract is up, that’s the way it’s going to be. I’ve spent six of the best years of my career at Celtic, winning trophies, winning a player of the year award. For me it has been an absolute roller-coaster ride that I don’t want to get off.

“I’m going to take this loan period day by day, game by game. I’m going to work hard in training and play my part in these next four weeks. You never know what might happen. But I’m not looking beyond that at the moment. Neil has done me a favour and asked me to come and play in these games. I’ve been happy to oblige.

“It’s a good few weeks for me and obviously, with Celtic heading out to do some international training, it gives me an opportunity to keep training. And there is nothing better than playing football in matches rather than just doing the training.

BRENDAN RODGERS praised Kris Commons’ excellent attitude as he closed the door on his Celtic career.

Commons, whose contract expires in June, made his Hibs debut against Morton at the weekend after joining the Easter Road outfit on an emergency loan.

The gaffer paid tribute to his application over the past six months but made it clear he was surplus to requirements.

Rodgers said: “It was just a case of him going out to get games.

“Kris will be in good condition. He has worked very hard in training.

“He has always understood the position here, but he has never been a minute’s problem. He has shown a great attitude.

“It’s difficult for him to play when I have Scott Sinclair, Patrick Roberts and James Forrest — these guys have been outstanding.”

Rodgers will not stand in his way if Hibs want to extend the loan until the end of the season, adding: “He’s a player at the latter part of his career, the important thing now is playing.”

I'm glad he's playing again. He's at the end of his career so he should be enjoying it as much as possible.

Yep, hope he does really well at Hibs. Hope he and Lenny are good for each other and Hibs finally get back up again.

I'm guessing we are paying all of his wage?

Not that I am overly fussed. But, when he does go it will free up a good bit that can be used on a new, younger addition.

Sad to see this, reading between the lines I think there is no way back for Commons. For whatever reason BR doesn't fancy him, otherwise he wouldn't have sanctioned this loan in a month where we might have to play academy players to get through it and his latest comments only confirm this.

I can only imagine that, due to his age, Rodgers doesn't see him as part of what he's building.

What you've done there is make the mistake of reading something not in quotation marks in the Rodgers interview. :56:

He's 34 next year, has never been the fit and energetic type anyway and Rodgers is getting more and more legs in the team.

His card was marked the day the manager walked through the front door.

That's ok though, we can both move on. No need for the long goodbyes or in Emilio's case the fake ones!
