Yes it is sad to see the curtain come down on Commons Celtic career like this. But he can look back with real pride on what a good career he had with us and he is a player I will always remember very fondly as a Celtic player. Would be nice to see him link up with Lenny at Hibs and maybe help them get back up to the top flight.

Deserves to say a proper goodbye to the fans, some of the hate for him in this thread astounds me.

    Hunskelper.

Last 10 minutes of an SPL game is the least he deserves.

Top player for us, and a big figure in the dressing room.

It was always going to be difficult for him to break into the side when he had an injury at the start of the season. He's notorious for needing games to be sharp, more so than other players.

I think people being critical of his physique just need to consider that he is simply a different build to most players you see in that position, it's not necessarily representative of his fitness. When he was fully fit, he regularly played 90 minutes - unlike Rogic.

Does anyone have any concrete info on where he is at in terms of his fitness, injury, coaching badges or plans for ever featuring under Brendan? Virtually every fringe player has been given a chance at some point since Brendan came in, be that a friendly, cup or the odd league game. He seems to be training day in day out, is looking very lean and Brendan is always praising the squad players training ethos... but where is he? Guys like Cifiti, Ambrose, Boyata, Christie and Armstrong have all had game time and now it seems were not far away from a return of the enigma that is GMS.

I miss seeing him and still think he has a lot to offer. He is the perfect man to share the CAM position with Rogic until we possibly find better long term option. :54:

Where are you getting he's looking lean from? Anytime he's in the training videos or pictures he still seems as chubby as ever.

He's the very antithesis of a Rodgers player.

I know for a fact he is lean, not that he was ever fat... he's just a stocky wee guy. I just don't know why he's not featuring.

I take it your in the... he's a fat, pie eating * brigade aye? Load of * nonsense pal :56:

sad to see him go some good memories

but hes not been in or around the team for a long time now free up some money for maybe one or two players, surprised he was on 20k a season but i guess that was a deal he got after his 30 goal season

Not featuring as he's not suited to Rodgers high pressure tactics. I agree that I would've like to see him be given a chance, as guys like Izzy, Boyata, and seemingly GMS will have. He's shown in the past to be arguably our most effective player, and even if he isnt that player anymore, I'd still say he could've made an impact. Saying that, I don't think he'd have the fitness to continually play a new brand of high energy football, and with his high wage it makes sense to let him go. I just think writing him off without ever giving him a run out is unfortunate.

As for the "chubby" notion, I wholeheartedly disagree. If I'm not mistaken he's 5'6, any amount of weight on him is going to make him the stockier type.

Kris Commons isn't and hasn't ever been lean. His size for a professional footballer is embarrassing.

It's pretty obvious why he's not featuring.

Neither was John Hartson. But he also slowed down and bombed out of Strachans squad.

Pretty poor the way Brendan has treated Commons imo. He's given EVERY first team player a chance whether that be in friendlies, domestically or Europe with the exception of GMS due to injury (Who Brendan has now said will get his chance) except Commons.

There is absolutely no question that using Commons as a sub to replace Tom Rogic when he tires as an option behind the striker wouldn't bring us joy and be worthwhile for the season at least.

It's genuinely as if Commons has done something very serious to * Brendan off.

IMO, Dermot, Lawwell, Ronny or someone else within Celtic have spoke to Brendan about Commons and his influence/behaviour last season and Brendan has already made his mind up deciding he won't get a sniff.

He will be off to Hibs in January imo.

You better hope Devlin ( \o/ ) doesn't see this.

Dev met him and felt his biceps and he can tell you that Krissy Bhoy is * ripped. :giggle1:

He's fit and ready to play and has been for a couple months now (He said as much in an interview after the Man City game).

Brendan just isn't giving him a sniff.

Plenty of players times will be up at Celtic soon that Brendan has played already. So that's unfair on Commons.

What a load of * mate, don't spout pish about people when you don't know what your talking about... especially against one of our own. I can assure you that having stayed at the same hotel as Chris on holiday (when there was debate over his weight a couple of years back) that he has muscles on his muscles and no doubt would put your comments to shame. When you've seen and met the guy around a swimming pool feel free to come back to me. Theres not an ounce of fat on the man. He has definetly toned up further since then, especially recently... you can even see it in his face as he looks almost gaunt in comparison.

Regardless of this, it's a debate about his footballing ability which is unquestionable and why he hasn't featured yet or is not even quoted in open discussions with the manager about the squad. It's totally baffling.
