If Christie and/or Rogic aren't doing the business at that level they shouldn't be playing ahead of him just because they're younger.

Commons has what... 4 goals in the last 6 European games? Not that really inconsistent form.

He was pretty poor domestically last season. Frustrating to watch. Rogic and Christie haven't really had a proper chance at that level have they?

One game against Lincoln doesn't say alot. If we were to disregard them because of that, the whole team should be disregarded. Commons time here is coming to an end I think.

You can say he'* and miss but he is a consistent source of goals (upto a certain level0 in Europe.

He has a pretty good record in Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League.

I don't deny that. But I can't see him being an important player under Rodgers. I think he'll move on

Arguments for it of course. Can't deny that at all.

Think for me though, we should be looking at perhaps changing our game plan for the majority of games to beat teams that set up in such a way regardless.

Its a tough one between sticking to what is tried and trusted, to future progression perhaps?

They need a chance to show they can do it. If they both get a run of games in Europe and do * all then fair enough.

Commons is turning 33 next month, seems to never be fully fit and gets niggly injuries fairly often. His best days are behind him. He's slow, he's greedy, he doesn't put in as much of a shift as others do. Yes he can score the odd screamer and still hasn't talent. But it's time we brought in some fresh blood and give them a proper go.

This from KDS pretty much sums up my feelings.

He was, while playing out of position and a pretty injury hit season. As it was he was still tied 2nd top scorer for us overall.

It may be coming to an end but it is not yet at an end and it would be * stupid to not use it while it's there.

Rogic was also absolutely shocking against Ajax, vastly outperformed by McGregor. Who in European terms is ahead of both for me at the moment. Even though Rogic was one of our best things out of last season and I hope he hits that level in Europe as well.

McGregor should be in our team too. No doubt about that. This is if we even play with a 10. If we don't then I can't see Rogic or Commons starting. But if we play a 10, Rogic deserves it in my opinion.

He is probably still the best number 10 we have. He has performed more consistently than Johansen (over the course of two or more seasons) Bitton and any other attacking mids we have.
He is always a goal threat when he is on the pitch and he has a hammer of a left foot. Ontop of this he cost £300k.
Theres no way he deserves to be first out the door.

I think when we have players in the team for a while people start continually focus on the negatives. It's why if you go to the start of the Craig Gordon thread you had all sorts claiming he's a better keeper than Fraser Forster.

If he even has a few days of training under his belt, I'd have him on the bench for this game tonight. Big game player - arguably the most clinical player in the squad, too. Why would you not want him as an option? Much more reliable than his peers.

If he's injury free he should be on the bench tonight, wrap the * people suggesting otherwise whether he has 10 or 1 training sessions under his belt. So much dead wood at the club who should never be wearing the jersey. Commons record at Celtic speaks for itself.

Rodgers said the other day he was training on his own and nowhere near ready.

The * would literally snap the bench if he sat on it the fat *.

Aye very good, I would have an unfit Kris Commons on the bench above James Forrest any day. And forrest isn't the only playe there multiple players I would have him in the squad before the amount of dead wood at our club is scary.

"The problem with Commons has never been his goalscoring. It's what he does when he isn't scoring. He has consistently been a lazy greedy player that isn't good enough to be indulged. For every goal there is another nine shots he's ballooned over the bar or wide. For every assist there's another nine shots he's ballooned over that bar or wide when he should've passed. The man is a clever player in more ways than one. He can maneuver himself about the pitch to get the maximum out of his ability and he can maneuver himself into positions off the pitch where he maximises his value to the club. It's been time for him to go for a couple of years now and the more he sticks around the more folk will sour to him and that's not fair given how both he and his wife threw themselves into Glasgow life.

When Kris leaves I'll try to remember the guy who joined us and linked up well and contributed to the overall play of the team rather than the 'false nine/number ten and a half' shoot on site player he became."

This is a load of *.
In a season where we didnt have a out and out goal scoring striker, he was our top goal threat. When played consistantly he has come up with the goods and id bet that uf you were to taken his ratio for being involved in goals : minutes on the pitch, he would be near the top for us. Not only this but he was one of the very few players capable of coming up with a game changing moment from nothing. Nevertheless, id rather have a player in my team who contributes im goals and assists, than someone who does a whole lot of huffing and puffing but provides no end product.

"Throwing themselves into glasgow life" kinda embaressing thing to say. He won affection by performing and being an integral part in a successful era. Pretty sure anyone who moves to or lives in glasgow throws themselves into glasgow life. What his wife has to do with any bearing on his footballing ability, i dont know.

I dont ever remember Commons being used as a deep lying striker (essentially a messi or a false 9) so im not too sure where thats come from. He has always played behind a striker.

Moreover i find this littered with contradictions: not good enough to be indulged - although a clever player.
Linked up well and contributed to overall play - lazy greedy goalscorer.
Clearly states in the beginning that he has always been lazy and greedy, but then in the end of the post he states he has only become this in recent seasons.

    Load of drivel.

I'd rather have greedy commons than side pass brown. Who's more likely to win you a game.

A fit Commons on form is our most effective player imo
