Kris Commons was in London yesterday for an injection in his SPINE.

The Celtic star saw a specialist for an anti-inflammatory jag to relieve swelling at the bottom of his back.

Commons, 32, returned to Glasgow last night after the out-patient appointment at a top Harley Street clinic.

The Hoops frontman had been complaining of a problem for weeks and travelled south after Celtic’s title celebrations on Sunday.

Commons will now resume training next Monday after a short family holiday as he aims to be fully fit for the start of pre-season training.

And that should mean he is ready for the Hoops’ opening Champions League qualifier in July.

And without him we would have been beaten every game, with not much to put on the scoresheet...

He was our only bit of quality in Europe this season.

And without Griffiths in a league game we'd struggle for goals...ah wait we scored 7!

If Commons hadn't played in the EL someone else would and who knows, maybe we would have been better, maybe we would have been worse.

The fact is, we have Rogic and Christie, two very talented, young players vying for the same position that Commons plays. Armstrong can also play there. These guys are the future of the club, they need regular games. And as Marky said, it's not fair to play them and then drop them whenever a 'big' game comes around. They won't develop.

Commons has been a good servant to the club, but it's best for Celtic and him if he moves on now.

That depends on what his replacement would have done had Commons not played.

James Forrest was also one of our better performers in Europe this season.

Commons has been a good servant to us, and I personally wouldn't mind him in and around the team, but Rogic is a better option now in my opinion. If the new manager comes in though and doesn't fancy Commons either, then the best thing would be to move him on, something Deila should have done. Otherwise it will get used as a stick to beat him with from both fans and media.

Beat me to it. I agree with pretty much all of this.

I hate to say it, but I think Commons is past it at this point. He'll probably stay this season but I can't see him being a huge part of the squad

We scored 7 in one game without Griffiths. I don't think we would have replaced his goals over the course of a season.

People can gamble on untested players if they like, I prefer we don't at this stage tbh.

For those who are in love.....
That also made a mockery of Tanner and Neil McCann's negative slant on us without Griffiths and the Sheep without Rooney just over a week ago:56:
Funnily enough they didn't mention it again Sunday :56:

Commons has been superb business for us, unquestionably.... But are we now to build a team around a 34 year old next year who looks past his best, slower than slow and the touch near on deserting him the majority of the time? Over as you say, a host of younger, more talented player's who we should be building a team around? It's a no brainer for me..

He's had his time, and been fabulous. His winding down of the body and questionable attitude has done nothing for some of us wanting a fresh start..

    Maybe not but who knows?

So how do Rogic and Christie become tested players? They need a shot in these games. Christie, more so than Rogic in my opinion, has the chance to become a very good player for Celtic. In order to do that he needs to play more often than not. He needs to be trusted in bigger games to build his confidence and improve him as a player.

They play their way in just like everybody else, don't just hand it to them. Right now we aren't in a position to gamble. We are on an absolute downward spiral in Europe, taking a look at that and picking the one guy who got us anywhere near competitive this year and thinking we can do without that just confuses me.

If they deserve a place in ahead of him, that's fine, well done them.

So should Commons start the European qualifiers based on a couple of good games he had in Europe this season, over Rogic who has been one of our better players for the whole season? Rogic has earned his place in the team over Commons.

Surely they have played their way in? Rogic has been one of our best players this season, and Christie has played well in his last two matches, scoring a goal.

You have to play your form players. Commons, since we got papped out of Europe, has done the square root of * all let's be honest. He's had a fair few matches and been awful in most of them.

Who has been our best right winger this season? Roberts. Who has been our best attacking midfielder? Rogic. Who has been the best left winger? Well that's debatable. Undoubtedly we need to strengthen that position.

Really, the left wing position is the only position he should play, if he has to play at all, considering how well the other two players I mentioned have done. And even at that, I don't want to see Commons out wide because he can barely run at this point.

McGuire said it. He's had his time at Celtic and done a great job. But he's getting worse and worse, slower and slower. You can't just put him in ahead of better technical footballers in the hope that he'll smash a 25 yarder in every now and then.

For me, I'd probably start both of them tbh. Even at that, I'd trust Commons in a big game more than I would the others. The experience is there for him not to get flustered, as talented as others, would you think Commons would have missed the type of chance Roberts did in the Sevco semi?

Experience has a lot of value, especially when that experience has quality, like Commons hs.

I'd love Lenny back here, in a second. Don't think we should have ever allowed him to leave.

As I've said before, we could do alot worse than Lenny, He was a good manager here.

I don't want him back but he was great for us. I was gutted when he left.

Really? Like Ronny Deila? I don't think guarenteed success is as easy at Celtic as people make out.

I like what works, I don't think Commons has shown this season he can't handle European football. I want European football. I think Neil Lennon is good enough to consistently lead us to CL football, he's not my first choice, that would be Moyes but I would be quite happy regardless.

'Stuck in the past' is a tag I'm fine with btw, we should always be striving to do better than our greats, surpass them. It's a good base level to judge us off. The present, I don't think is anywhere near good enough.
