I like Commons, can still play a big part for us next season, losing some weight must be on the agenda tho

However if rumours of the likes of him, Brown and Mulgrew are too big for their boots in the dressing room, then I would let go (along with the other 2).

We need to start being ruthless when it comes to getting rid of players. Christie and Rogic are the future, Commons is the past.

 

He's still a reliable player for us, speaks volumes that he played rarely this season yet still ended up as our 2nd top scorer.

It's all well and good hoping Christie, Allan and Rogic develop and progress but in the mean time we need someone who's been there and done it waiting in the wings.

Why? So we can drop Rogic, Armstrong, Christie or Allan for Commons whenever a big game comes round or they have a dip in form??

That's not how you develop young players. You have to let them play in the big games and take their lumps. You can't shield them forever. In fact you will probably stunt their growth as players if you do that.

The bottom line is we have too many players in our squad for that one position. We saw that this season with Allan and Christie spending long spells of time sitting in the stand twiddling their thumbs. These guys need to play or they will never grow into being Celtic players.

Commons has had his day here. As someone already said, he is the past while guys like Rogic and Christie are the future.

 

As much as I like Commons, it's hard to disagree with the above. We need to focus on the future of our squad.

 

I put success over development mate. If the likes Christie or Rogic can get us through the qualifiers and deliver the goods in Europe in a few months time then so be it. I don't think they can though and I'd not be willing to give them however many games to try in the hope they might get better.

Commons is a far more reliable option, for now.

 

Commons is a different type of player to any of the others we have in the 'behind the striker' role.

A regular scorer in big matches, even now.

 

Scores 31 and then doesn't get played? Creates or scores every goal in Europe yet people want rid? He's the biggest mistake ronny made.

 

I think we mostly need to focus on the here and now, getting rid of the only but if European quality we had this year when our co-efficient is on the downward spiral is just daft to me.

Gambling isn't something we can afford to do much of next season.

 

The biggest mistake Deila made with Commons was not selling him when he clearly didn't fancy him.

 

Well lucky for us he never. I'd dread to think of our European results without him.
