If you play him through the middle and surround him with players to do his running for him he pretty much guarantees you goals.

He picks up great positions and hits the ball well. He struggles when he isn't a regular, though. He needs games to keep his match sharpness and looks really sluggish when he is and out of the team.

Having a player who can score a goal from nothing is a great thing. People forget that Larsson would often be quiet during games then he'd get away from his marker and bang in a goal.

So for how many games do you carry that 'passenger' at this critical stage of season waiting for that contribution to return, while there are others ready to go straight in team & make an impact?
Sorry - football is a 'what have you done for me lately' game and after a couple of poor appearances, he needs to move aside.

    Precisely.

People are blinded by stats. His all round game just isn't good enough now. For an attacking midfielder, you rarely see him playing a defence splitting pass. And as I said, his shooting these days is average. He used to score 25 yarders for fun. When was the last time he scored a belter?

The last few games have really * me off. He keeps getting a start even though he contributes * all, yet Roberts who has been impressive has to be content with sitting on the bench for 45/60 mins.

If anything, the 'critical' stage of the season means that getting the best out of your proven match-winners is all the more important. I'd have Commons in the team playing right up with Griffiths because that's where he does his best work.

He also tends to come to the boil at this stage in the season.

All great with hindsight but at this time we were ALL screaming out for a renewal

He was our only bit of quality in Europe this year. People have short memories.

I disagree. He has been just now but earlier on in the season he was our most creative outlet. Since his last injury though he's been short of form, rather like Scott Brown.

I think there was a lot of games earlier in the season when his overall play was just as bad as it has been in recent weeks, but he was pitching in with goals, so it wasn't being highlighted. However, now that the goals have dried up, it's more noticeable how poor he has been. Rogic has been a better option in the number 10 role this season for me, and deserves to be back in the starting lineup for the Hearts game.

Brown needs dropped, I've been saying that the past few games. He is getting picked based on who he is just now.

I don't think he's had a run of games in the number 10 role this season? Maybe had 2/3 games over the course

Not domestically, he's only had a handful of good games this season including the few games in Europe he done well. He's been poor most of the season, though I put that down to him playing on the wing, not fit enough to get up & down the pitch.

Domestically as well, especially early on in the season. I think Commons being off form just now is why we look so creatively short. He's not being what he's been doing what he was doing earlier this season.

Disagree mate, him playing recently has made us creatively short, look at the difference Roberts made, again down to Commons being out of position but Rogic has deserved to play no.10 role the way he's been playing.
Commons wasn't that good earlier in the season, he'd maybe pop in with an assist or a goal but he would create much throughout the game. He tends to slow the play down a lot as well at times.

Disagree with most of that, earlier on in the season his movement and passing is why we were creating chances. We've looked very short of it because he hasn't been doing it since he came back from injury. The 'slow' play down thing is something I've never understood, he's one of the only players in the team who looks for the early, decisive pass. He's far, far more direct than most of our team.

Commons has some of the best statistics any midfield player has ever had at our club, loves us to bits and wants to retire here. Cheer up * :56:

Edit: He also has a masters in hunskelping. If you think commons is past it look at our goals/assists in the EL this season.
