Better's such a "catch all" term, though. He's certainly our most dangerous attacking player and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet but I wouldn't describe him as our best player myself.

And they both are most effective in the same position, which is a dilemma.

don't really get the 'back patting' he's been getting, going over board, he threw a tizzy cause he got hauled off (cause he was pish - though there should have been three changes with johanson, brown or armstrong joining him on the bench) and all off a sudden he's getting applauded onto the team bus, and chants going up for him.
talk of him being our best player, first pick, build the team round him etc is all nonsense. he's been mediocre in the European scene for quite some time. He's not going to get better and we need better

As a lot have said, always in the middle for Commons, what a difference it makes.

And if that means Johansen on the bench so be it. I really hope Ronny has learned something today. Commons a 31 goal striker, you don't see many of them nowadays.

Except he isn't a striker and won't score 31 goals.

He's a midfielder that is capable of scoring 32 in a season, which is exceptional.

Not sure if hes had much credit for it, but his finish against Molde really was special. Real top quality finish.

He's been our only bit of quality in Europe so far this season.

Most creative player we have and as has been said should always be in the middle, also so what he got *$d off at least it shows some desire\frustration something that has been seriously lacking lately.
May not have the pace but if the right runs are made will find the pass more often than not

2012 -Scored goals against Helsingborg in CL qualifying to help us into the group stages where he scored the goal that sent us through to the last 16 against spartak .
2013- Scored the only goal of the tie to beat Elfsborg 1-0 in CL qualifier, sending us into the play off round. In play off round scores an absolute screamer against Karagandy to get us back into the tie when we were looking out of ideas and 2-0 down .
2014 - Scores the winner in a 1-0 EL group stage victory at home to Dinamo Zagreb . Scores in the return fixture aswell as we win 4-3 in Zagreb helpng us into the last 32.
This season he has three assists and a goal in our EL campaign and has created more goal scoring opportunities (10) than any other player in the competition .

Apart from all that he has been bang average as you say .

Look, his talent and abilities are beyond doubt or question. All thats dubious is whether or not you believe he's still got a regular 90/180 mins a week in his tank. I've no issue whatsoever with building the midfield around him in its centre, at all our levels, and that's because he's proven himself at all of them. I just don't believe he can do the full game at full pace anymore. . especially against the top sides... and no shame with that. He's still a weapon...

    Yip, not denying that.

Just pointing out a Celtic fan not being aware of the playing position of one of our first team. Almost as bad as folk not knowing Zaluska has left the Club!
