Rested for the more important game.

Still our best attacking player, in my opinion. Scores goals, can see a pass, creates space, draws fouls etc. Classy player.

    * sakes you're some boy. I just want to ask, do you come out with this stuff because you believe it? Your criticism of Neill Lennon is totally irrational as is your blind loyalty to Ronny Deila. You have a chance to prove me wrong, without propaganda can you explain to me why you give unconditional support to Deila in spite of dissenting voices and evidence to the contrary. Same question flipped around regarding Lennon. On ye go..

I agree, say that as the reason though. He's not just back from a broken toe, it was about a month ago. It's handling him correctly, not that he was ruled out.

If he wasn't fit enough to take part he shouldn't be on the bench.

Still though, long time to go in the league. He done the business past night and that's where I want to see us kick on from.

He got it right last night, doesn't mean his decision this season have all been correct. I've got a lot of hope after last night though.

My own take on it is that he doesn't really excite Ronny because he's the finished article. Ronny'd rather play the likes of Rogic, who he can mould and develop. If I'm right, then he's only playing Commons now because he knows his job's on the line and Commons is our best attacking midfielder. Presumably he didn't play at Pittodrie because he's not yet capable of two games in such a short period and the Ajax one was more important.

I'm all for preparing for the future, but when you need to win your big matches, you should play Kris Commons - not Tom Rogic. He is experienced, a leader within the group, a proven goalscorer and our most creative player around the box.

I don't think he's fully fit yet, couldn't imagine him playing both at Pittodrie and in Amsterdam. He played in the more difficult and important game.

    This.

Commons saved his job last season too. As soon as he came into the team regularly we started to win consistently.

When he is fit play him. Simple as that

It's a bit of a quandary where to play him in Europe though..

Play him on the left or right and we are exposed defensively.

Play as CAM he won't press as well as Johansen, maybe they can switch during games as they did to good effect last night, but that left Forrest a little isolated on the other flank at times.

Ronny won't change his basic 4-2-3-1 only tweaks it a little. So I don't advocate playing Commons from the start every game, Armstrong is arguably more suited to what we are trying to achieve as a team.

Kris is a great weapon to have though.

JC: "Everyone knows he missed pre-season with injury, but you can see his sharpness and touch is back. Good news for us. "

Pretty much confirms they've been waiting for him to regain his fitness. That broken toe may have cost us the CL :54:

But not even getting off the bench at Aberdeen? He could even have started and come off after around 60 mins.

Celtic got better last year when Commons was reinstated, and when Brown and Bitton formed their partnership. Gave us protection for an already strong defence, allowed us to dominate possession and gave our most creative player the freedom to play.

I'd like to see Commons back in the team, especially if Johansen is carrying a knock.

Commons is easily my favourite player. Guy is top class, he's not even fast just the way he moves, the way he positions himself, his vision. If he was 25 he would be our next £12m player to be sold. Atleast he is older so we can keep him.

This issue reared it's head because he was left on the bench at Pittodrie. If that's not what he is referring to, then I'll hold my hands up.

Seems pretty obvious it was though.

I'm not interested enough in your words to twist them mate :smiley-laughing002:

I don't buy thatt. Last season he played pretty much every game when fit (not necessarily the whole 90 minutes). I've been wondering why he hasn't played more this season, but if he hasn't been fully fit after missing pre-season that explains it. Also, if you look at his time at Stromsgodset he would always have some older heads around, not just the young talent.

He came off injured against Kilmarnock as well.

I just think Pittodrie is the biggest issue, if he wasn't fit enough to play in that due to Amsterdam why was he even on the bench?

    * it, I'm drawing a line under it. Like I've said, I want to see more like last night.
