That's running with the ball though. Most of the touches he takes are with his left when he is killing the ball during the one twos with the striker.

Then he gets a shot off with his left as well.

Still an important player for us, him and Johansen looked very dangerous when they played close to one another.

Gives us experience from middle to front in knowing what to do and when.

I still find him frustrating because if he were quick and/or energetic he'd be outstanding. But then I suppose he wouldn't be playing for Celtic either.

Commons is still our best player.

  5. I'll need to take a look at that, I've alays thought the opposite.

Apart from that, he deserves credit for his defensive performance tonight. The one big chance he got he done well to set up Griffiths who should have done better.

I hope this performance means that he starts the next few games.

I'm talking about him on the right remember, not tonight. :icon_mrgreen:

Don't want you watching the game again tonight and thinking 'what the * is this * talking about?' :smiley-laughing002:

Next time he's on the right I'll have a look at it :icon_mrgreen:

  9. Good performance from him tonight, when he had the ball at his feet. Showed some of the class he regularly shows in domestic matches and he can spot and play passes that nobody else in our squad can. Was good to see that from him in an away game in Europe.

Off the ball he is a liability though. He's either out of shape or lazy. Doesn't track back or close down as much as he should and this leaves the full-back on his side of the pitch exposed, which can have fatal consequences at this level.

A plus for us tonight overall though.

  10. Along with Scott Brown in the midfield Commons is another who can handle this level.

    Played well tonight

  11. He's neither out of shape or lazy, he's just not the same type of athlete as the likes of Broony and Johansen.

Saying that, a man who is is Janko, I don't think he was offering as much protection as Commons when he came on. Let Dijks get the better of him several times.

  12. Great tonight, really smart and his experience was vital.

We need to find a place for him in the team and get him a run of games.

We are a better team when he is playing, and he could be vital in Europe.

  14. Easy answer. Commons instead of Johansen.

  15. Far superior player in comparison to Johansen, should be played in the AMC role.

He is not a far superior player to Johansen, let's not get into the realms of stupidity...

  17. Sold Lustig short a few times in the 1st half, including the first Ajax goal. 2nd half he offered more in that aspect. Used the ball well most of the time, most importantly when he played in Biton for our 1st goal. Seems pretty basic stuff, but shifted the ball between his feet and with a well weighted, accurate pass onto the run of Biton.

  18. Going a bit far there. Both good players, same position, slightly different skill sets. If I HAD to choose to keep one or the other I'd choose Johansen, mainly because of Commons age.

  19. Don't get me wrong, i do think Johansen is good when he is in the form of last season but Commons guarantees goals and assists and has a great range of passing without the silly booking's and has the experience to win us some games almost single handed which Johansen does not,

Only thing Johansen has over Commons is age and engine imo.

We need commons in the middle not Johansen.

Think there are question marks over his fitness but Commons makes things happen in just about every game he plays.
Think we are a far better team with him than without him.
