Deila's team selection was spot on in my opinion.

Would love to see him play, easily our most intelligent player.

Ambrose and Izzy might have made us harder to break down if you want to hold out for a clean sheet and still be able to get goals. Armstrong's not been 100% fit.

Mulgrew came into the side to take over from Izzaguire which must have had the alarm bells going inside the dressing room.

You walk out into a wall of noise, yer facing a real battle. You're looking for back up and you've got Forrest who can't defend and Mulgrew who can't run. If you get the team selection wrong like this, and the team know it's not our strongest side, and sometimes, psychologically the game is not lost before it starts, the seed of doubt kicks in after the game starts. But anyone who watches Celtic would think the decisions are of a man who bottled playing the guys he played last season and then he used the word scared, no doubt to fire them up for the game against Aberdeen.

He's shown a lack of confidence now in Ambrose and Izzy and it did not work. Mulgrew doesn't look happy unless we've got two up front and he can hit the ball long.

Sorry mate Ambrose are you really suggesting we should have played him!!! It would have turned out even worse had that liability played. He has no place at Celtic Park get him out the door.

His selection for that formation looked spot on before KO...

His formation was wrong for defending a lead in Europe..

    Gordon
    Janko Boyata Virgil Izzy
    Mulgrew
    Brown Bitton Joahansen
    Forrest
    Griffiths

Something like that would have been better, keep the ball and still press well with Forrest in a free role...

But protect the lead, you can't legislate for our defending from the corners but that formation we may have conceded less corners..

4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 leaves us too open..

We set up pretty much the same as we did against Qarabag away, and we were very comfortable in that game, and coasted to a 0-0.

Ambrose should be nowhere near a Celtic strip. He played a big part in costing us the second goal at home to Malmo, and Deila was right to go with Janko, who didn't do all that badly in my opinion. Izaguirre hasn't been great recently either, and I seen a lot on here wanting Mulgrew to play, as it also added height to the team. Ambrose hardly played last season as well by the way. Izaguirre not being included was the only decision that might have come as a shock to some, but I can fully understand why he was dropped for Mulgrew.

Someone made the decision to let Matthews go. I give Ronny the benefit of the doubt on this one, he must have been sold by the real boss. If it turns out that Deila had anything to do with Adam leaving then he should be sacked instantly.

Ambrose has played 142 games for Celtic. Some of them wins in Europe. I'm not saying he's the best in the world, but with Van Dijk thinking about a medical, Janko fresh into the side and never played this level before and Forrest who has never tackled anyone in his life, or headed a football, then you're being naive to think we'll walk in their and have all the possession with Charlie Mulgrew on the overlap. I really dig what Deila is trying to do with his hands tied, but at the same time i think he's bowed down to some pressure to go with Mulgrew, instead of Izzy AND Mulgrew, Ambrose AND Janko if you see what i mean. Surely that's more compact with two midfielders instead of wingers and two wingers instead of strikers. Variation on 4-4-1-1 but using width and a false striker. That allows the centre backs to have the ball, but nobody else, so you can defend a bit deeper, but maintain that extra man out wide who can cut inside. Say you make them GMS and Armstrong, Or Stokes and Scepovic. That's got to be better than Griffiths up top on his own

4-5-1 makes everything compact and you set up 3 versus 2 scenarios down the wings. Griffiths doing the press conference basically told them he was starting for sure, turned out he couldn't get a goal so you could have thrown a curve ball at them with Scepovic or Stokes.

Are they? I'm not so sure to be honest. I wouldn't say there was much between them.

You would love it if Deila had sanctioned the sale of Matthews eh? Another stick to beat him with would suit you down to the ground. I'm going to say Deila had no say whatsoever about Matthews leaving, just like he will have no say in whether Van Dijk stays or goes as well.

Matthews decided Matthews was going, if Matthews hadn't decided that he'd still be here.

Still though, I thought Janko acquitted himself fine on Tuesday.

Aye, that is also true. However, Deila will have had absolutely no say in the matter, I'm confident on that. Just like he will have no say in Van Dijk staying or going either.

I thought Janko done well on Tuesday as well, another player who could hold his head up in my opinion, and there wasn't many.

Not no say but something along the lines of he's in my plans and Pedro going right we'll let him leave for a certain amount. Rather than he's not in my plans and we go and actively trying to punt him.

I think everybody at the club agreed it was Matthews time to go just because Matthews wanted to leave, everybody would have been happy to keep him if he wanted to be here.

Bit different from the Van Dijk situation.

Matthews couldn't * defend against Snowmen if he had a flamethrower.

Don't give me this Welsh wizard pish would have made the difference.

Maybe not but he did defend just perfectly against Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi.

Infact, he was always one of our best European players I thought, I'm struggling to remember a really poor European performance from him.

Legia at left back? Any others?

If Lawwell wants to sell, then the bid is accepted in my opinion.

Definitely mate but I don't think that means there's no say in it at all by Deila.
