    CELTIC manager Brendan Rodgers wants Kieran Tierney tied down on a new long-term deal.

    Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton have all been linked with the left-back.

    Tierney still has three years remaining on his current deal, but the Hoops want him to sign a new five-year contract.

    He enjoyed a stunning breakthrough campaign last term as his eye-catching displays saw him win his first Scotland cap and clinch a host of awards.

    The 19-year-old spoke in May about his desire to commit his long-term future to Celtic.

    And Rodgers insists staying at the Hoops is the best place for Tierney to fulfil his potential and reach the top.

    “He needs to be where he is now,” said Rodgers.

    “He’s at a top club.

    “If you’re a 19-year-old and you’re playing for Celtic in the way that we will do, it’s the ideal place for him to be.

    “What then happens in two, three, four years, whatever, we will see.

    “But at the moment he’s best suited at this club and he’s very happy to be here in the conversations I’ve had. He’s a wonderful talent.”

    Asked if he wants Tierney tied down as soon as possible, Rodgers replied: “Yes, I think the club will do that.

    “They have spoken behind the scenes and I am sure that will take place. The club are well underway with that. The kid will be a top player.”

    Thought the same about Tony Watt. He even said himself after extending his contract post-Barca that he could see himself playing here forever. Lets hope it works out and we see KT become a club legend :celt_2:
