That’s purely because of his injury record over the past few years though. Fans have got legitimate concerns over his capability to stay fit. I don’t think fans are moaning about us spending money, I think it’s more to do with the fact it’s a huge amount for us for a player with a horrendous injury record since leaving us if we are being honest.

He'd be a failure if he came back here. Like it or not, we'd be a step back.

Explain yourself then? He'd be playing in domestic sense at a lower level. I'm not saying I wouldn't be delighted but from his own professional pride its a step back for him as an individual.

Playing for Celtic has the same demands as any other big club. He was successful at us and Arsenal, will be playing for the team he supports while earning a living for doing so. If that’s what you call a failure then I’ve misunderstood the meaning of failing

I wouldn't say he's been that successful at Arsenal. He's not been a regular for a long time. You are correct that we have as much demand to win as them but coming back to play Ross County etc is a step back. If he sees himself as an elite player he should be playing in one of the top leagues.

And I do think he is an elite player when fit.

We can spend the purported money more wisely than on Tierney.

At 15m it makes sense for us. Anything more is a real stretch.

He played 36 games for Arsenal last season including 6 Europa League games, 8 international games on top of that for a successful Scottish side.

£15m over a 7 year deal just over £2m per season to them if its spread over contract lol

Regulars don't get touted for loans/transfers. He can't keep a place in the side. He's not a regular.

I would absolutely love him back on a loan but would never spend £15m or that on him. Only because his injury record. Would rather have a player slightly below his level, if it meant we didn't have to worry about him missing out every few weeks.

Surely there are better ways we can spend 15 mill. I'd argue would could buy a left back and centre mid that would for that money that could have a much bigger positive effect on the strength of the team.

If we managed his fitness and rotated with Taylor when required it could work imo

He’d be well out of our reach if he wasn’t dogged by injury.

I don't think it does. I'd be quite happy for the club to pay even £20 million for a 21-year-old, mostly injury-free KT; but I wouldn't spend £15 million on him as he is now because it's essentially dead money. Let's say he signed a 4-year deal and sees it out. That's £3.75 million a year on top of his wages! Or let's say he stays 2 years and we sell him as an injury prone 28-year-old playing in the SPL and who didn't quite make it at Arsenal. That means mid-to-low EPL bidders and maybe £10 million (c.f. the complete lack of a stampede for his services even now at 26!). That's £2.5 million a year on top of his wages.

I would be horrified if we paid this much.

Maybe an argument could be made for 8 or 9 million where we could likely at least get our money back on him. That wouldn't horrify me; but even then, I would be totally against it due to the opportunity cost and due to the possibility that one of these injuries ends his career.

Exactly. We have to take the opportunity cost into account too.

Or why not spend the £15 million on a young LB with the potential to be developed to KT's level?
