Kieran Tierney

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Mr. Slippyfist, Aug 1, 2015.

  1. He's arguably fifth choice. In pre-season they've had Timber, Kiwior and Tomiyasu all playing ahead of him and that's not even counting Zinchenko.

If everyone's fully fit, then there's a high chance he won't even be on their bench. I can honestly see a late loan deal happening if there's no permanent interest by the end of the window.

  2. Yeah you're probably right I was being generous with the third choice claim. Tierney has his weaknesses no doubt but he's criminally underused by Arteta.

    Just make it happen Celtic.

If we set up a go fund me account and collect a quid every home game off everyone attending for his wages, sorted. I'd give a quid a week for him:56:

  5. He’s just came on and the goal came down his side.

I think he’ll definitely move before the window shuts. Wages could be a problem if it’s going to be a loan here. It would be risky from our side too considering we should be looking for a permanent LB.

I think his wages will be an issue anywhere. Even clubs that can afford it will be hesitant to shell out for it

  7. I have a couple of friends here in the US that are Arsenal fans so I remind of that fact all the time.

  8. If he loves the club, wants to play week in week out....then his wages are the only issue.

Maybe he could take a good drop....or let DD pay for it.

I mean ffs we just dropped 25 million for Jota.

  9. If he loved the club he'd still be here :fear:

Whatever happens it’s as clear as day he won’t be at Arsenal come the end of the Window if he has any sense.

Even Arsenal fans are perplexed at his treatment, aye play Zinchenko in front of him if you believe he’s better but he’s playing guys out of position regularly in front of him now almost like a slap in the face point is being made for whatever reason.

  15. I still don't buy it..

  16. Based on what I saw of the game yesterday when he came on I think he lacks certain attributes that Arteta wants.

1 - Composure, Tierney tends to lump it when under pressure. Not necessarily a bad thing most of the time but to me it gives up possession too easily.

2 - Technically - Tierney’s touch and passing is decent but it’s not top level and he has no right foot.

He’s a fantastic player that will excel at the right club/setup but it’s clear Arteta doesn’t fancy him in the role and I think it’s partially due to the two reasons above.

  18. I've always thought this about him even when he was at Celtic. It used to * me off whenever Tierney punted the ball aimlessly under the slightest bit of pressure. Don't think he does it as much anymore but it's definitely a negative feature of his game still. Arsenal fans comment on it all the time.

Agreed about Tierney's touch and passing as well. It isn't bad but it's not at a great level or anything. I'd go as far to say that Taylor is actually better on the ball than him - in terms of passing in tight spaces, first touch and ball control.

What let's Taylor down massively is his reluctance to get forward and attack, mainly due to his lack of pace and strength. He simply cannot so will not do it. Tierney excelled at that when he was here. Haven't seen much of that at all in Arsenal colours though.

  19. He's incredibly injury prone. Which isn't going to get any better as he ages which is probably why no one is breaking the bank to get him
