That word is thrown about far too easily these days.

Yeah mate due to the fact that all the above clubs have already spent the mega millions and have constantly rogered them, they are a big club but don’t have the same money as the top 4 at present

Modern football for you I guess.

Where there is talent like KT they just won't be a one man club and its foolish to think otherwise. We can debate all we want about the rep and size of other clubs but if they've got the money they will come in and take

It's all contextual. It is still a Scottish record, it certainly doesn't merit a player feeling unloved when his employers accept it.

Unfortunately we dine at a different table than the * rat EPL *.

We can demand what we like, doesn't mean we'll get it. The trend is that the fees we get are creeping up and up, not long ago the basic was £10m now it's around £20m

Good player Tierney but been a long time since we’ve seen him at his best.
Certainly not a legend and think some of the reaction to this is over the top.
Would be nice to see most of the £25million reinvested though which I doubt.

Didnt think he would finish his career here or that but for him ‘being one of our own’ i fully expected him to be here for the 10, it may be easy looking in from the outside but if i was earningg 20k a week , playing for Celtic who i have followed my whole life i dont think anything in the world would stop me being part of 10 in a row! If he stayed for the 10 he should have been confident enough in himself at 24 to be able to make the move and have a good career earning good money from then on!
People are blaming the board etc , some people will blame the board even if its raining outside ffs but i could sense at the end of last season he wanted to leave by his demeanour etc and yeah its only rumours that he wanted to go but i personally dont see what the board done wrong. if its the board whos forced him and he didnt wanna go (which for some reason i dont see being the case) then im sure we will find out in the future but for us to get a record transfer fee , weather its low compared to others in the epl etc i still think the board have done right by holding out until they got their figure and i cant help but think he wasnt putting up much of a fight.

You misunderstood what I was saying about Champions League. Champions League qualification means a LOT in terms of money coming in. If we had held on to Tierney and subsequently qualified for the CL (not saying these are related), the board would get their 25 mill that way and wouldn't even need to make any other signings to appease the fans. Selling KT is almost like an insurance that the board get their stack of cash in case we don't qualify in the coming weeks.

I don't think anyone is a Legend at the age of 22. Far too soon. But he is part of a legendary squad who got the Treble Treble and a significant part of the 8IAR. He is part of this Celtic family, and all the terrible things I am seeing about him is down to people letting their emotions get the best of them. The club set a value, and that value was met. Of course, he has the opportunity to turn it down but I am sure after seeing Robertson lift the Champions League, etc. He may have questions among himself. To make it as a professional footballer you have to back himself, and he backs himself against the very best. I am so proud and happy that he has been part of our squad, and I wish him all the best in the future. I do not like Arsenal but if he does a job there, he can go anywhere. I hope he fulfills all the potential that he has, and goes to the very very top. All the best KT, he is going to SMASH the prem

Nah I've not missed that. Throw it in to it as well then. U goin? I'm not, no matter how many self obsessed, money hungry wannabes on here try to tell me I would cos it makes them feel better about themselves.

Some people live and breathe this club and dream only of playing for it. The ones that are talented enough to do so and give their greatest and/or whole careers to our club are rightly revered as our legends. Tierney has given that up and it seems that many of our fans (going by this forum) would be similarly happy to swap being a Celtic great to coin it in at the 'soulless, overrated EPL' and all its money.

Why would we need insurance when we could have just sold him in January?

Legend is a cringeworthy word .

Been a good player for us and I'm sad to see him go...but never a legend in a million years.

We'd all like to think if in his shoes we would stay for the 10, becoming captain and all that. I can't really be disappointing that he isn't though, he's never put a foot wrong for the club and he deserves every chance he wants to take.

My main worry is that we're starting to see a speeding up of talent moving on. VvD and Dembele were only 2 years, alright they weren't youth products but if KT is going after what 3 seasons in the first team? Nothing wrong with being a selling club, it's desired even, but we really need to find a way to get the prices up - we can't maintain our position if we churn half the squad every 2 years and only get 10s of millions for the trouble.

We don't have the inward flows of Leipzig or Porto, that seriously needs sorted.

Who's a bigger celtic legend though Tierney or forrest we are quick to quote Tierney as a legend but we have a cracking wide man who's been here for nearly a decade and is willing to sign a contract extension effectively giving us his best years and only now the poor guy is getting the recognition

This is getting tiring. When have we ever shown any initiative to sell players in January?
