Sami Mokbel: Celtic left back Kieran Tierney remains a target for Arsenal, but the club are now prioritising a centre back meaning the club could revisit the deal in January.

Jeannie, mate, he demonstrably isn't "desperate to leave". Players who are desperate to leave (and their agents) have ways of forcing the issue, we've all seen this often enough. KT isn't doing any of that. It's so funny: yesterday an ex-player called Darren Bent, with no links to KT, claimed (with no evidence) that KT is desperate to join Arsenal and then 24 hours later people are panicking at all the rumours they are hearing that KT is desperate to leave. You can actually watch it unfold in this thread. :56::56:

FWIW, I suspect that KT wants to take the opportunity. They say we're only 6 degrees of separation from anyone on the planet, well there must be almost that many between KT and Darren Bent.

    Example plausible scenario:

Emery to Arsenal's MD: here, mate, ask KT out for me.
Arsenal's MD to KT's agent: my mate fancies your mate, does he want to go out.
KT's agent to KT: Do you want to snog Unai Emery?
    KT: maybe, what's he offering?
KT's agent to Arsenal's MD: you'll have to take both of us out dancing and we'll see.
Arsenal's MD to Emery: I think you're in, mate.
Emery to Nigel Winterburn: I asked KT out and he said yeah.
Nigel Winterburn to Darren Bent: KT asked Unai Emery out.
Darren Bent to the entire playground: I heard that KT is absolutely gagging to snog Unai Emery.
    ......

Talkceltic (24 hours later): Oh noes! :90:

I actually explained it that way deliberately, mate; because I honestly think the whole media/Twitter/rumour mill circus really is playground stuff. If you look at it in the cold light of day, it really is that childish.

I'm not implying that KT, Celtic or Arsenal have been acting childishly. Sorry if it came across that way.

Ah right, I get you now :50:, was wondering where the * that scenario came from

Nah, it didn't come across as though you were claiming they were childish.

What the media are, what social media has become and what they do to our intelligence... that's a post for HP and R, I guess.

There's nothing inherently bad in acting childish on occasion, my favourite film is Dumb and Dumber and the Finnbogasson saga was great fun; but in situations where we want to maintain our * powers of reasoning, because you care about the outcome, I think we should avoid the media and social media like the absolute plague.

Edit: I'm tired, I'm not explaining myself well in this post. I hope you understand what I mean.

I hope that my querying that statement wasn't viewed as panicking? :56: I'm of the mind that he has to do what's best for him :50:

I'd be surprised if this still goes ahead. I would have thought in his current condition that any medical would be prolonged and more thourough then usual. So doesnt smell like a deadline day deal to me? Or behind the scenes all would have been done already.

As well out of KT perspective, being unfit till october and then having to come into a new (much stronger league) environment with no football for a long time. When did he play his last game for us? March or april?

He'd better stay put for the season, get his fitness up and running and end the season in top form! That way he can stay for the ten or, have upped his value and his match fitness. I think comming back from injury and trying to adapt to a much higher EPL level can be counter productive for him with his fitness.

I think unless tierney himself pushes it, he'll stay until January at the very least. I would really like us to sign another lb on a short term deal until tierney is fit, preferably one not named Izaguirre.

That's my point, mate. The rumour started with him and took 24 hours to reach you through a number of intermediate links.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't mean that in a rhetorical way, either. I had a little think about your post and I'm not sure what to say. It's definitely a clumsy analogy and probably my humour is (as usual) chronic; but to be honest, mate, I really don't think it's waffle. There were a couple of serious and substantive points (albeit badly made).

Basically my intention was just to creatively illustrate how little substance there is in these rumours and just how childish the whole circus is. There's not really much point in me being sorry about my crap sense of humour, because it's just me. I can't really change that without changing who I am. However, I'm sorry the analogy was so poor that it wasn't clear what my point was.
