I would say we are the best development club in Britain and Ireland at the minute. And possibly among top 5 in Europe.

  4. Looking likely he will go now sadly.

Anyone else think that Lennons plan for Tierney leaving is to get Izzy back?

  5. No.

For me, at this point, nope. I don’t even think he wants to leave. Still genuinely can’t see it happening.

But then I’d have (and did) called anyone that suggested the weasel would leave mid season on a Treble Treble bid a dirty scoundrel and a liar as well and look how that turned out.

  8. The media attention to this story is like one giving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a 90 year-old woman who has had a heart attack 2 weeks ago.

KT is definitely a massive talent, but I've always been of the opinion that his interaction with the fans has always given him exaggerated status as a player.

I don't want him to leave, but £25m is a vast amount of money that we shouldn't knock back.

I'll still be surprised if he can actually go through with it though.

  10. Not for me mate!!

Even trying to put the green specs down for a minute you have a batshit crazy market down there where similar and actually a lot of inferior players to him are going for more. A lot more in some cases. He's proven at International and European level. This record sale if it indeed does happen for 25 million will be one i remember not too fondly because in my opinion we would have been robbed!!

  11. This.

I'd love him to stay, but let's be honest - he has huge potential, but hasn't come close to even being as stellar as some would suggest.

For us to receive £30m (or in the region of) for one of our academy graduates is astonishing, regardless of whether folk want to argue if it would be spent or not.

Time will tell if he wants to leave, or is prepared to accept an offer from Arsenal or anyone else. He's class, but he's not irreplaceable.

I think the fee even as much as a year ago would have been ample but this Window in itself has proven how out of sync with reality professional football is.

Scaled off of several transfers that have already taken place, 25 million is a pittance. As mental as that sentence reads.

It doesn’t get you much change from Oli McBurnie, as a topical example. KT already operates on a different plain from guys like him.

Yes £25 million is a vast amount of money but when you see the amount of money getting flung about for average players down there £25 million isn’t really enough for a player of KT’s ability and potential imo.

£80 million+ for Harry Maguire ffs!!

  14. Keevins mentioned the other night about him being an academy graduate and that's terrific money. I actually fail to see what the point here is really other than bottomline profit. This is totally irrelevant to his quality and what his selling price should be surely. What does he cost us * all have to do with it??

Agreed. Doesn’t matter a jot to his resale value where he came from.

Would Barca have sold Xavi and Iniesta for cut price deals because they cost them nothing? Do Ajax ever do that with their conveyor belt of talent?

  16. KT is a once in a generation type player for us and he will reach the very top. However, a left back shouldn't be the difference between winning a league and losing a league. We should easily be able to get by with a £3-5 million left back (if the scouts do their job properly)

  17. Completely correct. Seen it mentioned here and there, but it should have absolutely no bearing on his value.

  18. Genuinely can't understand it mate.

  19. See I’ve had this line of thought then I keep thinking.... But I like him :52:

    Bit backwards thinking that.

Look at Robertson and TAA at Liverpool, they wouldn’t have won the Champions League or pushed City all the way without them. 20+ assists between them.

Full back is as important as any position.
