Kieran Tierney

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Mr. Slippyfist, Aug 1, 2015.

  1. Perfectly honest he is worth more than 25 million to us and if they are shelling out more on other players tell them no deal simple as that unless its 40 million which CL money is worth to us then its a no deal because that's what selling best players can cost you...

  2. One of the mentioned reasons for us rejecting 2 (or 3?) bids from Arsenal was that they did not agree to a sell-on fee percentage.

A sell on % is standard practise so Arsenal are a bunch of amateurs

I suspect that’s very much the case and would be PL rightly looking out for the clubs interests.

I’d like to see a high sell on % being a principle point in any outgoing deal we do...

Buying clubs would just have to accept it or look elsewhere.... especially when we have no urgency to sell.

What a message it would send out if these arseholes failed to get him!! Basically * your EPL circus...we don't need to sell.

Big 'ifs' but if there's no min clause and his head's not been fully turned why don't we just tell them to just * off till they talk a realistic price

ps- to think these * had the neck to offer 15mill first bid.

Arsenal are closing on an agreement with Celtic for left-back Kieran Tierney after restructuring their £25million offer.

The deal looked to have collapsed last week as Arsenal refused to increase their initial down payment and fell £5m short of Celtic's demands.

The 22-year-old Tierney has told Celtic he wants the chance to play in the Premier League and the Scottish champions are willing to grant his wish if Arsenal pay a larger proportion of the fee up front.

Unai Emery, who saw prospective £72m club record signing Nicolas Pepe arrive for his medical on Tuesday, needs defensive re-inforcements with unsettled captain Laurent Koscielny unwilling to play for the club again and pushing to join Rennes on a free.

The Spaniard is now keen to get a deal sorted despite concerns over the left-back’s pelvic issues following a double hernia operation.

Arsenal are faced with injury worries across the defence, with full-back Hector Bellerin set to miss the start of the season.

Monaco are among the clubs to ask about Shkodran Mustafi with the German set to move on from the Emirates after a three-year spell and leave the squad lighter still.

Napoli were also understood to be interested in signing Tierney but Carlo Ancelotti ruled out a move, keeping faith with Faouzi Ghoulam and Mario Rui.

Meanwhile Virgil van Dijk - a former Celtic star himself - has backed Tierney to succeed in English football should the move materialise.

'It is not an easy step to make and you have to play well to do it. But he has the qualities,' said the Dutchman.

'Kieran made his debut against Dundee when I was at Celtic. I scored a free-kick up there and then he came on and helped us get the win

They clearly want him desperately with bid after bid coming in and all these rumours. We should hold out for every single penny off the *. Get the sell on clauses in too for when Arsenal want to sell him for 50 million plus in 3 years' time.

Fed up hearing about possible bids - what’s the story with his fitness levels? Will he be back anytime soon?

Getting boring now and it's become a sideshow that we could do without. We've done the right thing sticking to our valuation, if Arsenal are finally prepared to meet that valuation then get the deal done and get every single penny reinvested back into the team. If we can get a RB, DM, AM, CF out of it then we will have strengthened overall.
