I wouldn't say £25m is crumbs mate, it would be our highest ever fee received..more than VVD and more than Dembele.

Robertson and VVD were both further developed by 'smaller' English teams, before getting their moves to Liverpool.

Villa don't want to lose McGinn, that's why that fee is being banded about. The market is what it is.

Have you considered the possibility he may want to leave? The price, for me anyway is a realistic one for all concerned.

What would you say is realistic?

Well if we had achieved that kind of success outwith our domestic league.. Then we would be talking a lot more cash..

Being successful in only Scotland puts a limit on what we can expect to achieve in fees in the transfer market. Don't see the point in arguing that..

Hopefully Lenny can make us more competitive on that stage, but it's not easy.

The point is it shouldn’t be what league we play in. His value should be based on merit alone.

I get that mate, but how do you gauge that? It's still a little bit of a gamble, his final ball isn't consistently accurate for example...

Anyway, I hope he stays it would be the best for us.

Van Dijk was immediately worth multiples of what we received for him when his registration transferred to a Premier League club - likewise Dembélé.

We were shortchanged in both instances.

No Celtic supporter is at a loss to explain how van Dijk became the best centre-half in the world. We knew that he was destined for greatness; his genius was plain to see.

He improved at Southampton, certainly, but his value quintupled. Were his 80 appearances there transformative? No.

We should want to keep Tierney, and our valuation should reflect that.

Aye. If he agitates for a move, he will force our hand, but if he is content to remain at Celtic, we can name our price for him.

If he is happy here, and we wish to discourage bids, which we should, I would value him at £50m, in the hope that no one is willing to pay that for him.

It only feels like we were shortchanged by VVD because of what he has gone on to achieve. It was a good deal at the time with a good sell on percentage. The point being not so much Southampton developed him, it's more to do with how well he performed in the league.

    Dembele forced a move..

You're right tho, nobody would pay £50m.

The more of these guys we unearth the higher the base price becomes.

Which is why it's so frustrating that we've been lumped with that useless * Congerton for the last few years.

Dembele and Virgil wanted to leave and made it public, that forced our hands. We shouldn’t be selling him unless a ridiculous offer is received

No, mate. Just acknowledging that G_Portillo is right as a manager, he's not "insanely good".

He was still a pretty good manager, though. If he weren't a * and promised he wouldn't bring Congerton with him, I'd have him back in a heartbeat; but he is and he would.

No. If he is content to remain, we better not sell. If he wants to leave, that's different.

    You can see JC's point.

Selling footballers with the potential to become world class from inside the SPL is like trying to sell a rolex in a pub. You might know it's a genuine rolex and may even be able to point to a couple of genuine rolexes you sold earlier; but you're still in a pub and the price is always going to reflect the buyer's skepticism.

Genuine question, some are wanting a bidding war if he’s definitely going & we want to maximise the fee.

Surely if the rumours are true & the clubs release figure / clause is £25 million, then that’s all we will get, any extra money can be used to tempt Kieran, wages / signing on / bonuses.

There is no way in * KT is going to force the club he loves to do anything. He may want a big move but he will never force the board. From that agent statement, I actually felt a sense of relief. He's not angling for a move anywhere and he's happy to stay. What happens in the future is up to the board. PL has his price for him but I am genuinely surprised the fee is so low. We should be asking for £30m minimum with add ons. PL is known as one of the toughest negotiators out there so I don't get the low asking price.

Naw I felt we were shortchanged on VVD at the time mate. At the same time Stones went to City for 50m and it was obvious to me at the time who was the better player.

Stick a 30-35 million release clause on him and be done with it. People want him, they will have to trigger the clause and let Tierney get on with playing where he's happy.
