Some of the patter in here trying to justify why Tierney would move is quite laughable given a lot of the same people wrote such aggression towards Rodgers who might have left for exactly those reasons... :giggle2:

It's the manner in which Rodgers did it though.

Mad that you don't think Tierneys crossing needs working on, if you think averaging an assist every 4.59 games in a one sided league like ours is good you're kidding yourself. Do you think all the flaws in his game will just go away if he gets thrown into a better league? He's good enough defensively to be in a top 3 side in the epl and serie a, as a complete player I'm not so sure. So your opinion is that there is 0 flaws in his game, or if there is any he can't possible improve in that area in this league?

Arsenal are going nowhere. If he was to sign a 4/5 year deal he would be lucky to win a domestic cup in that time, he might possibly have a decent Europa league run.

If he wants to experience a better league and coin it in then fair enough but Arsenal won't do for KT what Liverpool has done for Robertson. Defensively they are a shambles. Almost all defenders that have played there in recent memory have had their reputations ruined.

KT will suffer in that back line and the criticism won't be far behind. Unless they spend really big across midfield and defence, which they wont then they will continue to be on the outside looking in.

Qualifying for the UCL (something they managed only by default this term) is an achievement for them going forward. If you take a look at their squad it isn't great and thats before they offload one of their top performers in Aubameyang. Wrong club for him in my opinion.

I'm not convinced a Scottish Football channel would work, certainly not in the current climate of plastic pitches and teams purposely not cutting their grass to stop actual football being played. The overseas interest in our game will be limited until we can rectify the likes of that.

The short-term financial advantages of the likes of Kilmarnock or Hamilton putting in a plastic pitch are obvious but we need to make a case that it's in their medium and long-term interests to put in grass pitches to improve the standard of the game. I think the likes of any windfall payments that clubs get from our participation in the Champions League (£4 million in 2018) should be ringfenced for improvements in infrastructure in Scottish Football (pitches, stadia, camera rigging, academies)

We need strong leadership from the SFA and SPFL (no laughing at the back please) to ban plastic pitches, bring in regulations about the length of grass and a total rethink of our officiating system to minimise the thuggery that people associate with Scottish Football. Huge ifs of course but we'd be in a much stronger position to negotiate good deals if we can make those gradual improvements.

I don't think the SPFL brand is strong enough for a go it alone model. Outwith Scotland and ex-pats we'll struggle to compete with other leagues, so I think we'll always be looking to Sports channels to pay us rights to add onto their service. After the Setanta TV shambles, clubs will be reluctant to move away from Sky and BT but we as consumers can impact that until they start to pay a fairer share, instead of England hoovering up all of the subscription fees.

If rodgers left after the season was over there'd be a lot less bad feeling about it, to jump ship when he did is nothing like KT potentially leaving during a legit transfer window.

Equally I've been away crunching numbers regarding a spfl TV deal and the likely revenue it could bring in, thank * one of us realised it's the kt thread ha.

I think the points you make are relevant though in the wider debate. :50:

I would argue that this stage of the season - UCL qualification rounds - is the most important component of the season. Rodgers left us 8 points ahead and knew Lennon was free to take
the reins in February so it would’ve taken an almighty collapse for * to happen.

Of course, it would’ve been better if Rodgers left at the end of the season but at least it gave us time to conduct a search for replacement players and/or manager...(the quality of such is to be debated!). Announcing his departure in May wouldn’t have given much of a turnaround to get everything ready for the CL qualifiers. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise to leave at that stage of the season in hindsight?

People are using the rationale that Tierney “has done all he can at Celtic”. I don’t think for someone as big of Celtic fan that he is has done all he can at all. Got a lot still to do here.

I had hope when the deal was up for negotiation last year, especially with Apple TV and Amazon supposedly interested, but the fact that the SPFL immediately went with Sky Sports for 5 years (and let's be honest, they were the ones offering the most) shows Scottish football isn't ready to try anything different yet. Hopefully when this deal is up, streaming services are even stronger and even more content-hungry. WWE just got two separate $billion deals for two of their shows, surely a product offering regular Celtic (and even Sevco) matches appeals to enough people to reel in much more than £32mil a year in this age.

A player transfer window is different to that of what a manager can do (in regards to switching clubs). Nothing I see really could have stopped Rodgers telling Leicester he would come at the end of the season, giving enough warning etc etc.
Or if that didn't suit Leicester then easily could have told Celtic he was done and away to seek new pastures (he'd walk in to that now vacant Newcastle job).

But a player doesn't really have that luxury, when it comes to honest approaches and transfer windows, all sales are going to be at this time of year as such.

Plenty folk will be sad and heartbroken when kt leaves, but if he does leave now and as it may look to some, then it's more acceptable

When did I say his crossing doesn’t need worked on? However, I think an assist every 4.59 games from our fullback is pretty good when we haven’t been a team that crosses the ball, play with one striker and that striker isn’t a target man.

We score enough goals and we’ve won 9 trophies in a row. Tierney’s assist record isn’t at the top of my worries.

He will develop where ever he goes. Different coaches, ideas and playing against better players every week. He will develop here too, but the games easy for him. He’s often in auto pilot and makes games look easy. Happened with Van dijk too. You just have to look at the rise of VVD and Robertson to see that.

I don’t understand why you think he needs to stay here to work on any flaws he has? It’s strange. No player is flawless. They don’t need to stay in a lower standard league to develop.

Well Arsenal who have a “limited budget” have just spunked £5.4m of it on a Brazilian player from the Brazilian 2nd division!
