Kieran Tierney

  1. I think that's something that could be in his mind never mind the clubs.

  2. Anyone making comparisons to Rodgers needs their head checked. KT is Celtic to the core, regardless of whether he’s here at the end of the summer or not.

  3. Good luck KT whatever you decide to do son. If you go you will have already left your mark. I know it wont be about money and it's stupid and selfish of people to be saying that. He needs to further his progression and I don't know about anyone else but I'm proud of the fact he started out with us.

  4. Every player has there price now it seems. One point to make though which could be career suicide for him if he chose napoli. Can you imagine the language barrier if he chose napoli. If he wants to leave good luck to him but we have to get top dollar for him and get majority of it spent quick style and get 4 full backs in the door. Perraud looks better than KT in the final third of the pitch which would be exciting and Stacey's stats at rb looks phenomenal in the final third as well. If we got both of them in the door we would be pretty exciting to watch I think. Unsure what both are like at defending however

  5. Better for the fans to sell now if they must!

But you’re thinking as a fan.

For the board... selling in the last day if the window and sending 100% of the loot into the Celtic Vault would be ideal.

January is easier to fend off spending demands especially if were in Europe and bossing the league.

  6. I think somewhere in discussions over contracts with him a release clause was entered into. I may be wrong, but that is what I heard. If that's the case then somewhere along the line he will want to play in a better league.

I'd love him to stay. Great wee player, but I also want to see him blossom and get the recognition that his talent deserves.

All Celtic need to do is say to him - we have some big bids - what are your thoughts? We want you to stay, but we also dont want to stand in your way if you see the Premiership as your desired destination.

  7. Sensible post, and the same stance I have. Communication between the board and Tierney is key. I lean more to the side of him leaving for big money as it has more long term benefits for the club. He's likely to succeed where he plays, which will be a great advert for the club adding to the list of successes; and funding future transfers - selling one player for big money to draft two in makes complete sense. Bottom line is we need to make progress in Europe, and the only way to do that, is to up the quality of player we bring in, which can only be achieved by proving a successful business model whereby players can use us to augment their career prospects.

  8. Tierney is a player of highest European standard, for us. I would like to keep him for a bit more, in regards to progress in Europe. Entering CL is a cash cow in itself.

  9. I'd be amazed if there was any Clause in his Contract.

I also find the view about him 'progressing' and 'gaining recognition' elsewhere perplexing from Celtic fans - my own personal priority is Celtic. KT making more money or getting plaudits in England is at the bottom of the list. I also don't subscribe to the notion that he'll only ever fully realise his potential elsewhere and (is boring as it is) the precedent is a world class striker who was world class at Celtic. Henrik Larsson.

  10. I agree with you, and I admit it's always a gamble to try and replace such an influential player, but Tierney got his chance in place of Izzy, who at the time we thought was irreplaceable. Players need that initial chance to prove their worth, and KT grabbed the proverbial 'bull by the horns'. So for me, sacraficing KT to gamble the opportunity for two-three players to get that chance is worth it ( although I'm fully aware that the funds from a sale may not be directly invested in player signings ).

He's gonna go so I just want it done now..

Over the next couple of day's so the uncertainty disappears and we can get the replacements and more money (hopefully) to spend elsewhere also..

  11. Why are you so sure he's leaving?

  12. For me nothing has changed.

Lennon has gave his reason for Tierney heading back early. I'll take his word for it.

  13. Just purely because of how much is coming out about this. Lenny talking about our price. The confirmed Arsenal bids. The changing of his agency. His injuries etc..

Zero inside info just convinced/resigned myself that he's off this time..

  14. Native English speakers should be able to acquire enough Italian to survive in a few months, with the right tuition.

Besides, Ancelotti and some of the Napoli players speak English.

  15. He was that up front about the bid and the asking price that there’s zero chance they’ve lied about his reason for flying back.

  16. I've no doubted that reason once mate..

I just think he's gonna go this window..

I wouldn't be overly surprised if it isn't Arsenal either by the way..

  17. If he does leave, I hope that we leave ourselves plenty of time to reinvest the proceeds during this transfer window: no transfer deadline day drama this year, please, Celtic.

  18. Agreed, best thing for us is to get any of the potential 'want-aways' out the door ASAP (while still getting a maximum fee for them) and replacements brought in pronto.

For the sake of the squad unity and hitting the ground running for these qualifiers I'd rather we gave any new players time to bed in with their team-mates and get used to their surroundings.

It's looking like at least 3 new players for our back 4 this coming season, we need to get them in now. Chucking them into the deep end for later rounds in the UCL qualifiers is asking for trouble.

Starting next season well is so important. Any poor results or nasty, protracted exits will be latched onto by our detractors and used to heap more pressure on Lennon. If we can get our business done well and promptly then it diminishes the chances of that happening.
