They don’t come much more Die-hard Celtic fan than Tierney, and it looks like he will be off. Money is King in the modern game unfortunately, no matter the ties to the club.

My opinion but I genuinely think every single person on this forum would walk when they seen the numbers put down in front of them. Of course no-one on here will ever be in that position so impossible to say.

A diehard doesn't walk away at this point in our history.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, McStay stayed when we were utter dug *, winning nothing and finishing 5th in the league. He was starring at European Championships and could've easily went on to make more money and win things elsewhere. To me that is a diehard.

You surely agree then, he will never be spoken in the same ilk as McStay, McNeil and Burns?

Look, I like him as much as anyone else but he's not a legend yet. Fair play to him, none of us would turn down 500%ish pay increases - for less work, but it seems that if he goes it's him looking for the move, not the club. Nothing against him doing that, but it will make him little more than a handy youth that moved on., especially doing it in a historic year

This . He will go because of the money . Pretty much every other player will in the future. It's our business model to sell our best players , we should be used to it .

drastically different times. Money wouldn’t have been all that different at other clubs back then.

    agreed.

He could've made 2 or 3 times his money.

Auld doubled his money when he left Celtic for Birmingham (against his will)

Paddy Crerand was in tears signing a contract for Man Utd that more than doubled his salary.

They are the exception though rather than the rule, and again drastically different times.

    Have they even bid again?

All of this chat seems to have come from the fact that he flew back to continue his rehab at Lennoxtown.

Sometimes it's not just money, it's about seeing how far they can go and what level they could play at. Some players like Ryan Gauld failed massively yet Robertson is playing at the highest level. Players every window leave their boyhood club they always supported and unless the club is in the best club in the best league and the champions league there will always be temptation. Long gone are the loyal days in football, the most you can hope for is a couple of good seasons, Tierney has more than gave us that. Gutted if he does, but I understand

You can keep saying that but the evidence is there that not everyone would go in this situation.

If we accept a bid then he is entitled to speak to Arsenal and accept any deal they put to him but for me that's not the actions of a diehard. Just my opinion.

Yes everyone on this forum would walk today if they were in his position in my opinion.
