When we starting the clock JC !? Even in the SKY EPL's time I'm sure we can both remember a time when Man City were nowhere near the top 6. Infact for periods they weren't in the top 44.

Arsenal are miles behind City and Liverpool in terms of quality all through their squad. And so are United, Spurs and Chelsea it will take a lot more than KT to change that.

Some people are less delusional though.

Money isn’t the only thing he needs to weigh up is the point.

Everyone would take the money in his position. Everyone.

The arguments of “if it was me i would stay” and “he’s already a millionaire” are pointless unless you’re in the situation.

It’s all relative anyway, i think when people imagine themselves in that position they think of themselves still driving their vauxhall astra and staying in a 2 bedroom flat on 20 odd thousand a week.

When i started working i was skint on 30 odd quid a week, I’m now earning over 20x that but I’m still the same level of skint. I’m not saying he needs the money, or isn’t already set for life but he will be living his life relative to his wages, so a potential to triple his wage at a minimum will be just at tempting for him as it would be for every one of us at our jobs.

Obviously Leicester broke that top 6 strangle hold and then some but since the emergence of City its pretty much been those 6 mate. And they are referred to as the top 6 now. Clubs like Everton, Leicester, West Ham's goal is to try and break into that 6..

Arsenal have been a top four side really for the last 20yrs.(bar one or two seasons?)

Arsenal certainly aren't the club they used to be but they've not been out of the top 6 in england for 24 years could be the start of the big clubs coming for our players directly instead of waiting till a Southampton etc. buys them, that's why it's important we get decent money then it's up to him.

Most would take it but not everyone. There are clear examples of people in our history that could have left for more money or to a more prestigious league and club, but didn't.

Comparisons to the average Joe and saying "you would all leave your jobs if another one offered 3 or 4 times your salary" are void.

No-one grows up dreaming of working for British Gas.

No-one goes out into their back garden with a spanner for hours every single night, imagining themselves fixing a block U-pipe bend...before jumping about daft in celebration.

No-one asks their maw and da to get them a boiler suit for their Christmas with 'Davey the spark' emblazoned on the back of it.

If Kieran wants to jump on this move to Arsenal for the extra cash then that's his prerogative but not everyone would do the same in his position. That's just a fact. I'll never be in his position but I can quite confidently say that no amount of money would tempt me to leave Celtic over what could happen in the next 2 years. They'd need a crowbar to get me away from Lennoxtown.

I've come to the conclusion that if KT and Calmac want to move on to experience new things then good luck to them. All we can hope for is that the guys they bring in are of similar ilk. We just need to get to grips with the fact that nothing is forever. Good players will come and go and that's part of what makes us great. Each of these players leave their mark and they make it easier for others to come and take a chance on us. No one is bigger than the club and ultimately it doesn't matter who is wearing our colours as long as they give their all in the time that they're with us.

Don't want to derail the thread but our unambitious managerial appointment has a hand in this. His development isn't guaranteed to the same degree it was under Rodgers and the board didn't even attempt to match it. Paying for it now.
